About this deal

The Lagerfeld Parfums perfume license was originally owned by Elizabeth Arden (Bethco Fragrances, 1978-1989), with which Karl launched the Fendi and Chloe fragrances. Then, after a two-year fruitless period with Faberge, the brand was owned by Unilever (Parfums International, 1989-2005), Coty (2005-2012), and Inter Parfums (2012 - present).

We will One thing that made late Karl Lagerfeld a different fashion designer from the rest of the crowd is a well-known fact about his personal involvement in creating designs for his perfume bottles. Given its rich and full-bodied nature, Lagerfeld Classic is best suited for the cooler months of fall and winter. The scent lingers on the skin, providing exceptional longevity and leaving a memorable trail as you move. This makes it perfect for evening events, nights out, or leisurely activities where you want to make a lasting impression. Even without being 100% sure from giving it a try from a tester bottle, something about the art deco bottle design, and that gorgeous orange liquid, made me buy it, and take a chance. There’s nothing in the market that quite comes close to this absolute treasure, although the closest alternative is Karl Lagerfeld for Her – in that it seems to belong to the same Fruity Floral family, yet Boucheron Quatre is in a league of its own. The longevity is really fine and though expensive, offers good value for money.

In terms of daily use, it can be reserved for special occasions or for those looking to add a touch of elegance to their routine. The scent is less suitable for the workplace, as its strong sillage may be overpowering in a professional setting. The great Karl would be proud to see how good they kept his first-ever fragrance release, and that should be enough for everyone. This fragrance is everything that today is not. Class, style, elegance, personality and charisma. It's the 70's and early 80's in a bottle. It truly coolides with the 80's mentality of mixing business over lunch. Sexy, professional and likeable. Cheap in price but this is not a cheap perfume... It oozes class. Any collector who appreciates fragrance history and wants to explore the scents of days gone by needs to take a look at Lagerfeld Classic as it clearly paved the way for masculine orientals. The kind of scent you wear with a plaid button up khakis a decent a leather blended watch and brown dress shoes at a family Christmas gathering next to a lit foreplay drinking spiked eggnog. Lagerfeld Classic, created by IFF perfumer Ron Winnegrad ( Rumba Balenciaga, Armani Giorgio Armani, Love’s Baby Soft, Leonard Pour Homme, Furyo Bogart) opens with a warm and very soft aldehyde-orange wave, which immediately reveals a powdery spiciness and tart woods. So you can think of a floral soap designed specifically for men as a description of the top notes.

This masculine fragrance creation came into my possession by accident a couple of years ago while I was browsing through my local perfume shop, and found it sitting way behind from the latest releases on the lowest shelf. At the heart is the old-fashioned, huge, spicy cloud of cinnamon and cloves, accented by dry tobacco and patchouli. Floral notes here are dried under a layer of powder, forming an ancient potpourri in which dried flowers, citrus mummies, cinnamon rolls, dried cloves, peppers, and other spices are mixed. The fragrance sillage is a very smooth amber accord, with the center of gravity shifted towards patchouli and coumarin which prolong the dry tobacco note. There is so much coumarin in it that the fragrance is closer to an oriental fougere than to an oriental woody perfume; there are a lot of musks and cedarwood with a drop of honey mixed to it later. Tobacco and amber? Exactly. However, in the 21st century this accord has undergone an evolution towards sweetness, and in this form, with the light hand of Tom Ford, it has become extremely trendy in the niche segment. Lagerfeld Classic by Karl Lagerfeld, released in 1978, is an Eau de Toilette formulated predominantly for men. This timeless scent has managed to maintain its appeal over the decades, with men making up the majority of its user base. The magical opening continues into the middle notes, where you are welcomed with honied and powdery amber, that feels rich, three-dimensional, and verges on the unisex side of the specter.Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health. It balances on the fine thread of being both clean and dirty, never truly going on either side. This is how it remains for the whole life of the fragrance with three different and distinctive phases. The long-lasting scent is perfect for the modern, self-sufficient woman – capable of conquering the world on her own. The scent frequently morphs and merges into the next note without losing its intoxicating charm. It’s definitely a mesmerizing gem for a lover of this particular genre – where’s the fun in wearing a crowd-pleasing scent that doesn’t set you apart? By that time, he had already worked as an apprentice at Balmain; a designer at Jean Patou; and art director at Tiziano, Krizia, Charles Jourdan, Fendi, and Chloe, and created not only clothing collections, but also several advertising campaigns for the latter's fragrances. By the way, his collaboration with Fendi lasted from 1967 to 2019, even longer than with Chanel. The question is, when did this silver-haired genius in dark glasses and gloves manage to do everything?

I have a 30ml of well-preserved vintage Bethco Lagerfeld, and wowee zowee, is this in my wheelhouse. I feel like many of the perfumes from the powerhouse era of the 1970s, and 1980s, just smell plainly dated and feel like empty shells of their former glory days. But, not this vintage gem. While being fully aware that this fragrance is composed of 18 notes, which is something we rarely see anymore, I feel that the blend itself is much simpler. The most suitable seasons to wear is Fall and Winter as daytime scent. The work environment, leisure, and special occasions are when Classic feels the best. Dressed up or dressed down, you’ll find your own style where you feel it works the best. The first fragrance bearing the name of Karl Lagerfeld, Lagerfeld Classic, was born in 1978 just five years before Karl Lagerfeld began his impressive Chanel renaissance, with 36 years of continuous work (36 years, Karl!).The heart is powdery sandalwood and orris, rose-tinged yet fiercely masculine (in a 70s way), and the base is a hairy chest musky vanillic amber with that orris merging into tonka, which I find in other in frags as well and just love that symbiosis. Young folks, remember, I am 42, and I even I am pretty young for this according to the current mainstream, so beware, unless you truly appreciate the classics on even a higher echelon. Base notes:Musk, Amber, Vanilla, Oakmoss, Tonka Beans My Experience With Karl Lagerfeld Lagerfeld Classic But the best is left at the end, and oh my God, is it gorgeous. I didn’t want you to feel scared of wearing something from the ’70s, but after a couple of wears, you will start to notice a strange “funk”, even at the first spray. I know I asked myself what is that note just outside my reach of getting what it really is, and it hit me. Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.

So, does it matter the majority of notes are hidden behind the major notes of amber, tobacco, and aldehydes? Nah, it’s still great for anyone who wants to explore classic men’s perfumery, and you’ll get an occasional “hidden” note here and there from time to time. In the heart of the perfume, the earthy and sweet character of patchouli is quite noticeable, followed by the smoky warmth of tobacco. The smooth, woody scent of sandalwood is complemented by the powdery hints of orris root and the sweet, delicate aroma of rose. The inclusion of cedar and jasmine adds depth to the middle notes, further enriching the overall scent. Lagerfeld Classic blurb from Fragrantica: “In 1978 perfumer Ron Winnegrad created an oriental-woodsy fragrance for prestigious house Karl Lagerfeld, named Lagerfeld Classic. The fragrance opens with aldehydes, bergamot, nutmeg, sweet orange and estragon. The heart is composed of cedarwood, intense and sweet jasmine, iris, patchouli, rose, sandalwood and tobacco. The base reveals amber, musk, oak, Tonka beans and vanilla. It comes as 65ml (2.27 fl.oz.) and 125ml (4.37 fl.oz.) EDT. The bottle was designed by Karl Lagerfeld.” Notes and Classification

AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION

Notes include: Cloves, Vetiver, Osmanthus, Bitter Orange, Leather, Coriander, Patchouli, and Musk. Pros: There are a number of different scent families like Oriental Woody or Citrusy – the list goes on – so familiarize yourself with the different families and which one appeals to you most personally, then browse for a scent that falls within that family. Also, remember that heavier scents can be too much in the summer season, which is more complimented with citrusy, fruity scents. In today’s perfume world, Lagerfeld Classic stands as a unique fragrance that if it was released by some niche brand with a much higher price, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a hit. On the other hand, for someone under 30, the uniqueness of creation might not matter with all the dirty, spicy, and powdery vibes it has. Affordable, and well blended, but it has to be tested first. Lagerfeld opens up orangy aldehydes that lift up the scent and give airy transparency that sits as the blanket over everything else in the first couple of minutes. Middle Notes: Heliotrope, Narcissus, Ylang-Ylang, Carnation, Jasmine, Lotus, Lily-of-the-Valley, and Peony.
