I didn’t hit any shots with the 5-wood on the Flightscope, but it’s worth noting that I am really pleased they have included a fairway and that is a 5-wood, not a 3-wood. The extra loft and slightly shorter shaft make it that much more usable for beginners as a 3-wood is often just too difficult to hit. This is another great set for beginners as it features a collection of very forgiving and user-friendly irons. The set includes a 460cc driver, fairway wood, hybrid, irons 6-SW and a putter. Pros: The 460cc driver is set to 13 degrees of loft. The perimeter weighting of the club effectively broadens the sweet spot. Easy-to-hit with great turf interaction and tactile feel, for superior control around the green as well as great escapes from bunkers. While the stand bag could be a bit sturdier and the wedges could be designed better, these aren’t problems that will keep you from enjoying this set. The driver in the McGregor CG300 set comes with a titanium infused head – making it both lightweight and durable.The putter MacGregor have included in this set is brilliant. It has a great shape, good alignment aids, and a really nice weight to the head that lets the putter swing nicely. Mallet style putter with incredible stability, feel and even roll, for consistently accurate strokes. A mallet head shape provides incredible stability throughout the stroke so that you can frequently strike the putter with an improved roll for better distance and accuracy control. As well as the full set of golf clubs you also receive a stand bag with matching head covers for the woods and putter. So, while these are a great option for kids starting out, they are not the ideal choice if you have a budding Tiger Woods on your hands.
Both sets are competitively priced, but you’re not getting a full range of clubs, just the bare minimum to complete a round.
