About this deal

This Micromesh garden netting is made from ultra fine U.V. stabilised, 90gsm mono-filament woven polyethylene to offer the best insect protection for plants. It keeps the majority of garden pests like carrot flies, flea beetles and aphids out while allowing air and water in. The garden mesh netting has a soft green tint that helps retain warmth and prevents scorching. Aside from removing the eggs by hand, which can be difficult to spot, the best way to prevent cabbage white butterflies from laying eggs on your cabbages is to protect them with Veggiemesh®. While the adults will not do any damage do vegetables, like cabbages. The larvae of the cabbage white butterfly will feed and damage plants. If left unprotected the cabbage white butterfly can destroy entire brassica yields. Ideal for protection against; cabbage Root Fly, carrot Fly, White Fly, Onion Fly, flea Beetle, vine Weevil and aphids and others, also bees, wasps, Cutworm and other caterpillars, moths and butterflies.

Whatever structure is used to support butterfly netting, it is important to securely peg or weigh down the bottom of the net to ensure that there are no gaps.

The sizes listed here are our most popular options however, we can make a micromesh seine net to any length you require.

It is possible to spray aphids off plants with water, but this is not a good option if the infestation has already taken hold, or your vegetables are very young. Veggiemesh 'Ultra Fine' is a very fine mesh netting woven from u.v. stabilised polyethylene. The mesh size is 0.8 x 0.8mm. The netting is very durable with a life expectancy of at least for several years.

A Seine net can be pulled through the water in the manner of a trawl, however, the micromesh seine net is very popular as a stop net to separate areas of water. We use 1.0mm braided twine to rig the micromesh netting to 10 mm low stretch quality rope with floats and leadline. You should consider the size of the water you wish to net and certainly the size of your target species when deciding which mesh size will work best. Once you have seined the length of your water you can use our Dip Nets and Fish Cages to retrieve and hold your fish.

This is a cheaper way of making a net because it is faster and requires no work by hand. The technical term for this type of net is Raschel which is a type of warp knitting in which parallel monofilaments are looped together in a zigzig pattern along the length of the net. Our Woven net is made from two strands of 500 denier filament looped together which is then interlooped at the mesh corners. The cheapest types of bird netting tend to be in smaller sizes, and need to be stretched to reach their full size. There are many stronger and more durable types of bird netting available, which also have the advantage of being easier to use. When left in place for the whole of the growing cycle, the final outcome from using butterfly netting can be a much healthier and larger crop. Veggiemesh will also protect against birds, rabbits, wind and hail. Cover crops as soon as you plant them and leave covered until harvest for bigger better crops free from insect damage. Vegetables may be covered all the year round, from planting right up until harvest. If you are growing fruit, just lift the netting during flowering if the crop depends on pollination by bees.Available by the running metre just pop number of metres required in quantity box, it will come in one piece. The net is complete when the spools run out or for longer nets new spools are added and the twine joined. As it comes off the machine the net has diamond shaped meshes. However this is generally not useful so the net has to be “squared”. The twine is wound on to 300 or 400 spools on the net making machine. The net is made by knotting the twine from adjacent spools one row at a time i.e. 300 or 400 knots per row. The knot we use is called a single English knot. Aphids are small insects that feed off sap. Most aphids get their sap from vegetation, shoots, and flowers. However, some directly feed from the roots.
