About this deal

No portable power station is right for everyone — but one of the six options reviewed above is almost certainly right for you. Once you understand your power needs, you can find a portable power station to deliver. Solar panels (at least 75% performance efficiency), solar mounting structure, solar inverter, solar batteries (optional), the balance of system (cables, fuses, MCBs, and Distribution boxes)

Monster Power Grid 300 (296Wh): The Power Grid 300 can be slow to charge, but did test at over 90% usable capacity. It has all the bells and whistles you'd expect at this level at a price that's potentially a tad high. For example, we will take the GoSun PowerBank 1100 (to make the math easier) and attach four of the 110-watt lights. That load rating is now 440 watts and the GoSun's capacity of 1,100 divided by 440 is 2.5. We would expect to see 2.5 hours of usage. The actual run time for this unit was 2 hours, 50 minutes -- 113% capacity. Great! Right? Well, we're missing some key factors. Without going into a long(er) explanation of how to more accurately measure power, the fact that this unit has an output of 110 volts AC (compared to 120VAC) and the actual output wattage to the four lights is 352 watts, our real expected run time is 3 hours, 8 minutes, which drops the capacity rating to 90%. Some deliveries are by third party couriers that use pallets. If the pallets are left, it is your responsibility to dispose of it.

Like all EcoFlow DELTA portable power stations, you can monitor and manage your DELTA 2’s usage with the EcoFlow smartphone app from anywhere with internet access giving you freedom and flexibility. We report three data points for charging performance. Each unit is plugged in for AC charging and we record how long it takes to reach 50%, 80% and 100% charge. Half-full is probably the least amount of power you're going to want, especially from the smaller units. 80% is the "magic number" for many rechargeable batteries. If you need something to take with you wherever you go, the smaller, lighter portable power stations like the RIVER 2 series and DELTA 2 will likely make more sense. As a general rule, with portable power stations, the larger and heavier the unit, the more electricity it can store and output — balance portability concerns against capacity. The smaller power stations won’t cut it if you need to power a high-energy appliance like an air conditioner or a large fridge.

Portable power stations are all technically portable, but some are decidedly more portable than others. The size of the battery largely dictates size and portability. Portable power stations with large battery capacities will always be physically large, and there isn’t much room for innovation there. Some manufacturers manage to make their portable power stations a little smaller than others or design them in a way as to make them easier to carry or store, but you should always consider battery capacity and output before size. If a power station doesn’t have enough power to keep you going or isn’t capable of running your devices, it doesn’t matter how small, light, or mobile it is. What is more, this charging unit can be plugged into the wall, your vehicle, or through the solar panels to keep the battery charged!

I’m pleased to finally test a power station with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePo4) battery which should last a lot longer than your standard Lithium Ion battery. I can’t confirm the battery’s longevity but in my capacity tests it fared well – at least in line with Bluetti’s claims. Although the battery isn’t replaceable and it does contribute to the weight of this power station. It is very heavy which is a real consideration if you need to move this around a lot. Each kilowatt-hour (kWh) of solar produced and used in your home offsets your withdrawal of grid-supplied electricity which is sourced from conventional energy resources. Promoting the use of solar energy in residential and commercial use reduces carbon emissions and can mitigate climate change, leading to a cleaner and greener future. 2 Kilowatt Solar Panel System Price List & Specifications Percentage of usable battery capacity for all portable power stations we have tested Steve Conaway/CNET Breaking down your requirements will help you choose which portable power station is right for you. Your Purpose Anker Solix F2000 (2,048Wh): Previously known as the Anker PowerHouse 767 and previous winner of "best large portable power station" here on CNET. This model has lots to offer by way of features and options -- pretty much anything other than wireless charging. It also performed quite well on our usable capacity and charge time tests.
