Spacing between the anchor and an unsupported edge is less than other types of anchors because the Titen HD anchor is not an expansion anchor and does not apply energy against the base material. As a result, the minimum spacing required for all diameters of the Titen anchor is 3-inches.

Drill a hole in the base material using the appropriate diameter carbide drill bit as specified in the table. Drill the hole to the specified embedment depth plus 1/2" to allow the thread tapping dust to settle and blow it clean using compressed air. Overhead installations need not be blown clean. Alternatively, drill the hole deep enough to accommodate embedment depth and dust from drilling and tapping. Considered a post-installed concrete fastener, the Titen HD anchor needs to be located a minimum distance from an unsupported edge. Since this is not an expansion anchor, the minimum distance from an unsupported edge is 1-3/4-inches for all diameters. Prescriptive" denotes spacing requirements per the IEBC and designs per the IRC and conventional provisions of the IBC. If the anchor doesn’t install completely, remove it from the hole, make certain that all the dust is removed from the hole or drill the hole deeper so that the dust can settle below the anchor. If the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor will not install completely, remove the anchor from the hole. Ensure that all dust is removed from the hole or drill the hole deeper. Then reinstall the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor by hand to prevent any cross threading from occurring. Titen HD® Product Information The hole drilled must be larger in diameter than the diameter of the Titen HD anchor. It is necessary to determine whether the anchor will fit properly through the fixture hole before the hole is drilled into the base material. Post-installed inspection of the anchor can be performed in a snap because the length is stamped on the anchor’s head. Embedment depth of any particular anchor has to be calculated. To determine the depth, simply subtract the length of the anchor above the surface of the base material from the total length of the anchor. The drill bit used to drill the hole for the anchor must meet ANSI standards. Hole size is equal to anchor size. The diameter of the anchor being installed is equal to the hold diameter that is drilled into the base material. For example, if the Titen HD anchor is 3/8-inch, then the hole must be 3/8-inch.A space of 1” under the head is unthreaded on two of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors to allow for installation into the tilt-up braces used in tilt-up construction. The 3/4” x 6” and the 3/4” x 7 are designed specifically for this type of application. Titen HD® Installation All Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors come with a hex washer head that does not require the use of a separate washer. The hex head leaves a very clean look once installed with no stud or nut protruding above the fixture. The hex washer head is serrated, giving the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchors very good vibration resistance once the head of the Titen The drill bit used for drilling a hole in the base material for the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor must meet ANSI standards. Hole size is equal to anchor size. The diameter of the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor being installed is equal to the hole diameter that must be drilled into the base material. If the Titen HD® heavy-duty screw anchor is 3/8” then a 3/8” hole must be drilled into the base material using a bit that meets ANSI standards. Nominal embedment depth for post-installed anchors into concrete must be 4" for SET-3G™ or AT-XP®, or use THD50400H Titen HD® screw anchors. Anchorage into CMU is per designer.
