Description

This is the midway point between paper and card. It can be used for brochure covers and is great when used for more luxurious posters or quality double sided flyers. We hope this had helped! If you are looking for any of the above then browse our most popular products or get in touch directly. There are no printers we would recommend for printing on tracing paper due to how thin it is, it could cause issues with the printer. The same would apply to Napkins due to being fragile. This is usually the lightest paper you can buy and is predominantly used for tissue paper and toilet rolls.

Materials can be costly so you'll want to avoid waste where possible, but that's not always easy, especially if it's your first time printing on a different type of paper. I am looking for a printer (laser ideally for speed) that can print additional information onto existing leaflets/flyers. I’m a photographer and use a QR code system for managing volume photography events. So for school photography every child gets a QR code that is photographed at the start of their sessions and when the images are uploaded the software automatically puts the images in the corresponding galleries. There are many categories to choose from when it comes to obtaining the best GSM paper for your needs. GSM is an acronym for “Grams Per Square Metre’ which means how much a single sheet of paper measuring 1m x 1m weighs. There are a variety of paper GSMs which have multiple uses. The lower the GSM, the lighter the paper and the higher the GSM, the heavier the paper. Most office-based industries, which are one of the biggest users of paper, will use a standard 70gsm to 80gsm.

What GSM Does NOT Mean?

The proper GSM weight for a card will depend on which type of printer you’re using. Printers vary in the minimum and maximum weights they can handle. For example, if you’re using an inkjet printer, the minimum weight would be something like 100 GSM (grams per square meter). For printers like laser printers and copiers, minimums might be around 150 or 180 GSM. If you go beyond the maximum weight (usually about 300 or 400 GSM), you’ll start to get serious problems with jamming and misfeeds. Different paper weights are referred to in gsm which stands for grams per square metre. If you were to take a sheet of paper that was one metre by one metre and weigh it, the weight of that sheet of paper is its gsm value. The default orientation in most documents will be 'portrait', which means the image that's printed out will be taller than it is wide.

Change the value in the Quantity field to match your requirements to find the total weight you need.Whilst it's important to set your orientation within your document, it's equally important to ensure that you've done the same for your printer driver too. Most printers will have specific options for printing in landscape or portrait, so just follow the manual instructions provided with your device to accurately set your device to print in the correct orientation. Colour printing vs mono printing The Pigment-based ink option is the Canon imagePROGRAF Pro-300, which can print up to 380gsm too, again there’s another link for you to see below,

As a rough guide, newspaper is usually 35-55gsm, standard copier paper is 80-90gsm and business cards are around 300gsm. Usually the weightsof a good business card. Some will use 300gsm, or less, for a business card but we do not recommend it. 350gsm can also be used as a cover for your book but it’s important to remember the stitching and folding implications of using heavy board as a cover.

Epson WorkForce WF-7840DTWF A3+ Colour Multifunction Inkjet Printer

Movingaway from paper, this is regarded as card (board) weights which can add a quality finish to a book if used as a cover.
