About this deal

Size class of the display as declared by the manufacturer. Often this is the rounded value of the actual size of the diagonal in inches. The percentage of the approximate area, taken by the active part of the screen, to the total front area. The ratio between the horizontal and the vertical side of the display. Some of the standard and widely used aspect ratios are 4:3, 5:4, 16:9 and 16:10. It’s a nice looking unit, too, the C27G2. OK, the plastics all feel a bit hard and scratchy. But the whole shebang feels robust and well put together, the stand is stable and adjusts for height, swivel and tilt and the slim bezels on three sides of the display ensure a contemporary, premium vibe. The overall 27-inch form factor and the panel’s subtle 1500R curve pretty much hit the sweet spot, ergonomically, while the four-port USB 3.0 hub is handy for connecting peripherals and keeping cable clutter to a minimum.

So far, so predictable. The pixel response, on the other hand, now that’s something we weren’t entirely expecting. There’s no sugar coating this, the AOC C27G2 has poor response in an overtly gaming context, especially given the 1ms rating. AOC has included configurable pixel overdrive settings in the C27G2’s OSD menu, as you’d hope. However, even at the most aggressive setting, some blurring and smearing is visible just juggling windows around on the desktop. Even worse, ugly inverse ghosting appears at the highest overdrive setting, too.Information about the number of pixels on the horizontal and vertical side of the screen. A higher resolution allows the display of a more detailed and of higher quality image.

The static contrast shows the ratio between the brightest and the darkest color, which the display can reproduce simultaneously, for example, within one and the same frame/scene.It's not the sharpest image either, but one that's completely on par with similarly priced monitors, so that's hardly an area for me to complain about here. Adobe RGB (1998) is a color space, developed by Adobe Systems in 1998. It has a wider gamut than the sRGB (mainly in the cyan-green range of colors) and is widely used in professional printing. Information about the maximum horizontal viewing angle, within which the image on the screen is of acceptable quality.

The stand offers a 5.1-inch height adjustment with 30° swivel to both sides and 5/23° of tilt. There is no portrait mode, not unusual for a curved monitor. Movements are firm and have a quality feel; there is no play or wobble here. The pixel pitch shows the distance from the centers of two neighboring pixels. In displays, which have a native resolution (the TFT ones, for example), the pixel pitch depends on the resolution and the size of the screen. Of course, it being a curved monitor makes it less than ideal for detailed graphic or creative work, but I could use Photoshop for basic photo-editing without any issues, although the 16.7 million colours and relatively low 89% Adobe RGB coverage on offer aren't to professional spec. If you’re looking for the aiming point, press the third button from the left. You get a single choice, a red circle with a crosshair inside. AOC CQ27G2 Calibration Settings Information about whether the stand can be dismounted. Usually, this is required for wall mounting.

Game Setting has more picture modes though we found the best image with Game Mode turned off. You can adjust Shadow Control for more visible dark detail and color saturation. There’s a low blue light mode for reading here too. Video processing options include a three-level overdrive, Adaptive-Sync toggle and motion blur reduction. It’s grayed out in the photo but when you turn off Adaptive-Sync, it comes on with a 20-level slider control. Higher settings reduce what little blur there is but also reduce brightness. Underneath the panel’s center is an input panel with two HDMI 2.0 and a single DisplayPort 1.2. A 3.5mm audio output supports headphones or powered speakers. OSD Features
