About this deal

Delivery timescales are based on working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. One thing to be aware of is that the midsole of the Ghost 14 is plain EVA so there isn’t much energy return with each footstrike. The midsole does provide a very well-padded ride with plenty of foot protection. I’ve always been a fan of Brooks shoes, and adored my Ghost 13s, so this new release had a lot to live up to. I took the 14s for a (literal) spin at my cycling gym class, as well as for a gentle 5K run, and they fit me like a glove. In true Ghost tradition, comfort reigns supreme here, with soft cushioning that makes road running feel like cloud running. These new shoes have had an upgrade, with the midsole now entirely made from Brooks’ DNA LOFT cushioning, that definitely made my running smoother and offered miles of comfort before I felt even the slightest ache. They really made my running flow better, which sounds odd, but it’s the best way I can describe the softness these shoes added to my landing and toe-off.

The Glycerin used to be the only Brooks trainer with a full DNA Loft midsole but now that the Ghost 14 also has one, the Ghost represents much better value. There’s nothing wrong with a Margherita: it’s a proven flavour combination and it goes down well. You won’t get a funky-tasting processed sausage or cheap, frozen seafood on your Margherita. The Ghost is the most popular shoe Brooks have created to date, and this latest 14th edition promises to be an exciting upgrade on a classic. Test runEveryone’s gait is slightly different, but there are four main types of running styles and pronation: It’s very important to know your running gait so that we can advise and fit the correct shoes according to your own individual requirements. Can’t get into store? Try a wet foot test The Ghost 14 does ride ever so slightly softer than the Ghost 13 but it’s negligible. If the Ghost 13 is a 6/10 in terms of softness, the Ghost 14 is a 6.25.

The Ghost 14 gets brand new flat laces which replace the old oval laces. I find that the flat laces distribute pressure more evenly and they make the entire lacing area flatter and more performance oriented. It’s neither too soft nor too firm, its upper is comfortable no matter what foot type you have and it has a remarkably stable ride for a neutral shoe. One of the forefoot grooves is now partially filled with rubber. This makes the forefoot less flexible and feel more snappy during transitions. The only time I ever run in a 12 mm drop is when I’m testing the Ghost. While it might put some people off, I don’t mind the high drop. While this may seem like a big update on paper, the ride experience is strikingly similar to the Ghost 13. The 3D Fit Print upper provides both stretch and structure where needed, allowing the shoe to conform comfortably to the individual foot shape. By using a GORE-TEX Invisible Fit membrane that is bonded directly to the upper material, the fit and flexibility remain whilst cold rain and puddles are kept out. The initial wear of the outsole rubber, especially on the heel area shows rapid wear after the first couple of runs, however after that, the wear tapers.

Delivery timescales are esimates in working days; Public Holidays, Saturday's and Sunday's are NOT classed as working days. There are two different types of rubber used on the Ghost 14’s outsole: soft rubber on the forefoot and harder, more durable carbon rubber on the heel section. The new headline feature of the Ghost 14 is that it now has a full DNA Loft midsole compared to the 13 that only had a half DNA Loft midsole. There’s a popular saying that goes something like, the more things change, the more they stay the same.

The Ghost 14 GTX Running Shoes from Brooks combine long-distance comfort with excellent weather protection from GORE-TEX, making them a good choice for putting in the training miles in all weather conditions. With a midsole made from DNA LOFT and a Segmented Crash Pad design, the ride is plush and well-cushioned, giving smooth, natural feeling transitions and great comfort. As for me, the only issue I have wuith them is that the outsole is wearing a little faster than I would’ve liked, but not by much. They’re lasting longer than my Nike Pegasus 39’s did. Besides that complaint, my Ghost 14’s have been phenomenal. I feel great all throughout my runs in them, and I run anywhere from 25-30 miles every week. I even use them for walking some days and they make for excellent walking shoes. There is now more outsole rubber on the medial side of the midsole to give the Ghost 14 more medial support since the medial side of the midsole has been changed to a softer DNA Loft. After 80 kilometers in the Ghost 14, I’ve noticed that outsole durability is however below average compared to other daily trainers so if you’re particularly hard on outsoles, stay away from the Ghost. This saying aptly applies to the Ghost 14 because it has a new upper, midsole and outsole yet it still rides the same as previous Ghosts.
