The Halti is a recently modern addition to the standard pieces of canine kit such as the collar, lead and harness, and while it can be very useful for certain dogs and provides several advantages over other restraint methods, it is also still very widely misunderstood. The chances are that if you are not sure what a Halti is, you have nevertheless spotted a dog out on a walk wearing one, but you may have mistaken it for a muzzle, or simply not realised what it is or how it works. Ultimately, the least cruel way to stop your dog from pulling is to use positive reinforcement training to teach them to heel.
Traditional no-pull dog harnesses look similar to a regular walking harnesses. They usually have multiple attachment points, including one on the dogs' chest. The Halti No-Pull Harness from The Company of Animals is not your standard dog harness. Its unique design is what makes it so effective. Double-leads are more complicated to use but have been proven to provide better balance for an unruly dog and thereby reduce pulling. How Does a Halti Work?
HALTI's products are well priced for the market, in fact, there are others a lot more expensive, so the cost alone might make them worth a try if you're considering whether you might benefit from extra control over a pulling dog, whatever their size or strength. Many people report that their dogs don’t seem as happy when wearing a Halti. Their tails and ears may droop, they hold their heads lower, and don’t seem as excited on walks. By lifting them up to your height it will make your job of measuring easier and your dog is more likely to stand still.
