Battery life (and recharge times) will vary based on many factors, including system settings and usage. On the other side, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5i gen8 is built on Intel 13th-gen Raptor Lake Core H processors (Core i7-13700H, Core i5-13500H), with Iris integrated graphics and an optional Nvidia RTX 3050 6GB dGPU in this 14-inch model. In comparison, there’s no dGPU for the 14-inch AMD configurations. That’s somewhat understandable, given the superior graphics performance of the RDNA-based AMD iGPUs over the Intel iGPUs, but this also means that the Intel models are the more powerful all-around configurations when specced to the i7+3050 specs. For the IdeaPad 5 Pro, Lenovo has adopted a 16-inch 2.5K QHD panel. A 2.5K display gives you a resolution of 2560×1400, which means you get substantially more pixels than a standard Full HD screen to ensure images and videos still look sharp, even on this stretched-out screen. All in all, I expect these IdeaPad Pro 5/5i 2023 generations to be some of the most popular 14-inch all-purpose laptops of the year, much like their predecessors in the past. The 2023 updates are significant refinements of the older models, with updated designs and builds, better IO, better screens, more powerful hardware, and a larger battery. The screen choices, on the other hand, are the only potential limitation of these lineups, alongside perhaps pricing and availability.
The touchpad is also very usable, though I had to up the Cursor Speed in Windows to get it working at my usual sensitivity, which is something I have to do occasionally on laptops with higher than 1080p resolution screens. With that fixed, I didn’t have any issues with pointer control, or with multitouch gestures and swipes. Screen The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro looks pretty classy. A dark grey outer shell makes it look almost like a bigger MacBook, and it’s also well built, with its all-metal construction providing a smooth finish.Thankfully, the 97% sRGB color coverage is paired with an accurate color representation, mainly because of our Gaming and Web design profile. This lets you use the device for professional color-related work, which basically justifies the “Pro” moniker in the name. The 16:10 display with a high resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 is a main unique selling point of this laptop.
The laptop we have in for a review is the IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″, 2022). As the name suggests, it is a 14-inch device made in 2022. It is also found under the name IdeaPad 5 Pro 14 Gen 7, or IdeaPad 5 Pro 14IAP7.Installing our Health-Guard profile not only eliminates PWM but also reduces the harmful Blue Light emissions while keeping the colors of the screen perceptually accurate. If you’re not familiar with the Blue light, the TL;DR version is – emissions that negatively affect your eyes, skin, and your whole body. You can find more information about that in our dedicated article on Blue Light. Gloss level measurement Lenovo IdeaPad 5 Pro (14″) in the configuration we tested has an IPS panel – MNE007ZA1-1 (CSO1402). Its diagonal is 14″ (35.6 cm), and the resolution is 2880 x 1800 pixels. The screen ratio is 16:10, and we are looking at a pixel density of – 243 ppi, and a pitch of 0.10 х 0.10 mm. The screen turns into Retina when viewed at distance equal to or greater than 36cm (from this distance one’s eye stops differentiating the separate pixels, and it is normal for looking at a laptop).
Essentially, you can effortlessly edit photos on this little notebook. What will make it even easier for you, is the SD card reader on the right side. Furthermore, the laptop comes with a decent port selection, which includes an HDMI 2.0 connector, two USB Type-A 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports, two USB Type-C 3.2 (Gen. 1) ports with DisplayPort and Power Delivery, and more. One of the best things about this notebook is its hinges. They are super smooth and allow the lid to be opened with a single hand. Also, the bezels around the matte display are thin, and there is an HD camera with an IR face recognition sensor array at the top.
Power Management
Both in Machine Info and in the datasheet it is clearly written – in both cases there are 2 TB4/USB40 ports. Innovative 2-in-1s– part laptop, part tablet, part nothing you’ve seen before – for those who want to tap the untested power of the new. Still, we’ve included other color spaces like the famous DCI-P3 standard used by movie studios, as well as the digital UHD Rec.2020 standard. Rec.2020, however, is still a thing of the future and it’s difficult for today’s displays to cover that well. We’ve also included the so-called Michael Pointer gamut, or Pointer’s gamut, which represents the colors that naturally occur around us every day. Now, last but not least, there is the bottom panel. Since the speakers are firing towards you, it is a lonely home to the ventilation grill. And the hot air is then exhausted through a vent in between the base and the lid.
In this test we use 100% on the CPU cores, monitoring their frequencies and chip temperature. The first column shows a computer’s reaction to a short load (2-10 seconds), the second column simulates a serious task (between 15 and 30 seconds), and the third column is a good indicator of how good the laptop is for long loads such as video rendering. Internally, these are still available in either AMD Rzeyn or Intel Core variants, with the same choices in processors, up to 32 GB of onboard LPDDR5 memory, gen4 M.2 SSD storage, and 75 Wh batteries.

This is even more impressive considering our review unit only has 8 GB of RAM, and even Photoshop runs fine as long as you’re working on smaller projects. However, if you're planning on doing more demanding work, you should probably consider getting a model with 16 GB of RAM.
