About this deal

Jess was vying for captain of the cross-country team this fall, and competing was one experience in high school that I would miss. The author dealt with this issue very well. The scene was devastating. When Maddox embraced Fallon and she cried, I felt tears in my eyes.

If I’m captain, honey, your spot is secure,” she boasted animatedly, clearly drunk. Jess had always been nice to me despite the rumors that followed me year to year and the embarrassing pranks that reminded everyone why I was a joke. Anyway! The story itself is great, we do find out why Jared bullied her all those years and all it would have taken was communication, but they are teens so who communicates effectively at that age? I was along for the ride. I hated his friend Maddoc and at times I was upset with Tate, but the moment they do get together it was fireworks 💥 and I am all here for that built up tension of hate between the two. Fallon's mask slowly comes off, she wasn't mean at all. She just tried to take revenge but didn't have the ability to hurt Maddox. She turns out to be very naive, innocent and completely in love with Maddox. As for Maddox, his character growth was remarkable. What they did at the end was completely unexpected but I understand why they did it. They were just young teenagers who loved each other deeply but had people who wanted to keep them apart, they just didn't have any choice. Tate and Fallon never kiss or sleep with other guys but it's perfectly acceptable for their male counterparts to be manwhores. There is always a reason when it comes to bullying, and so is to Jared’s case. There are some reasons as to why he becomes a bully, and there are also reasons for his hate. However, does this make it right? Not. Jared anger and his hurting behavior have some explainable causes; he is a lonely young man dealing with his pain but decides to lash it on others. In this particular case, he unleashes his burdens on the one person who loved him unconditionally.

I walked out to the patio and peered into the pool. The weather was perfect for a swim, and people were carousing in the water, so I trekked around the pool looking for the silver glint of my keys through all of the bodies.

Madoc punches Jared for no reason whatsoever and then comes out with the cringest statement ever "we're already brothers as far as I'm concerned". So why punch him?? I love her so much that I hate her. I hate that I can’t let her go. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn’t trust her—or anyone else. So I hurt her. I pushed her away. But I still need her. She centers me. Engaging her, challenging her, pushing her—it’s the one last part of me that feels anything anymore. You’re not going anywhere. You leave in two days, and we’re having fun. No matter what.” Her threatening voice shook my already unsteady nerves. Even after everything he’d done, part of me still missed that boy who was my waking thought and constant companion as a kid. But that Jared was gone now. In his place was a sour, hateful douchbag that had no regard for me.”

So this was pretty confusing in the beginning there up until this point has been no mention of Fallon unless I missed it in the previous books!! As we walked up the driveway, she trailed behind me. Texting Liam, I assumed. Her boyfriend had arrived earlier, having spent most of the day with his friends at the lake while K.C. and I shopped. I really hated myself for admitting it, but despite the bullying, he made my heart flutter. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. I know. But still… *flutter* I will say though that despite everything going on between them - Jared and Tate had some seriously chemistry!! Talk about unresolved sexual tension! I mean really! But I loved that despite everything he did while he was being mean, that he never crossed the line into touching her... that again was more proof to me of him feeling something deeper for her. Jax OMG!!!!He is amazing!!!I need his book now!!!!If you loved Bully and Until You then you definately love this one!!!

Good!” he shouted in my face, boring down on me. “Finally. Because it’s been a long time since I could stand the sight of you… I promise you will be in tears by next week.” Nate is the resident cliché almost-rapist brings me to damsel in distress cliché in both Bully and Rival. At least change the would-be rapist! Jared and Tate are still going strong and it was nice to continue their story as well. Jax seems to have grown up also and I'm looking forward to the next book in this series, which will focus on him. When Jared was fourteen, his father called and asked if Jared could come and visit him for the summer. Happily, Jared agreed and left for eight weeks. After that visit, though, he returned cold and cruel."

There was a time when I had all his attention and I loved it. And as much I wanted him to leave me alone, I also liked..the way he was looking at me right now. And then I remembered that I hated him.” But we were different now. I wanted only his pain, and judging from the girl he’d come home with last night, Madoc was still the same. A user. While I liked this book for the most and was captivated by the author's realistic portrayal of bullying, I must admit, this book left me with mixed feeling. Jared sat casually at a table with a blonde on his lap. Frustration knotted in my stomach, but I tried to appear unaffected. I knew every ounce of my discomfort gave him pleasure.

Maddox and his father's issue was also solved. It was good to see them accepting their differences. Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or numb to all emotions? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between. Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don’t care about anything or anyone. A heated and passionate novel, full of feeling and intensity that will appeal to the reader seeking an emotional rush."--IndieReader.com Parts of the book just had me grinning like crazy – almost in a way that was a little reminiscent of the Neighbor from Hell books but.. in high school. Gah! It felt wrong but I just couldn’t stop smiling in certain places. But then something would happen that would sober me right up.This is the second book of Fall Away series and also my most favorite book. This book focuses on Maddox and Fallon. Fallon is exactly the sort of heroine I love to read about; smart mouthed, sassy, and with a spine of steel. This girl sure knew how to dish it, and she could take it just as well.
