About this deal

Field shots would have the camera either zoom towards the fields or simply pan in one direction until the fields are visible. These shots indicate that the segment will likely take place in the fields, with occasional exceptions. This is the Opening Shot category with the most shots, with a total of ten.

This VHS has the rabbits' song (the same version from Swimming with Stephanie used as a transition into the Tubby Custard Cloud where the camera cuts fading to the opening shot "Home Hill 2"). However, in this VHS, the rabbits' song is used as a transition into the Twisty Dance. Instead, the Tubby Custard Cloud opens with the opening shot "Field 1". In Swimming with Stephanie, the first cloud seen is described as 'a big fluffy round one', but in the US version of Mandir Temple, it is described as 'big fluffy one'. Also in Uh-Oh! Messes and Muddles, the word 'round' is cut out for some reason. Teletubbies - GO (BBCV 7215), Busy Day (BBCV 7244) and Happy Weather Stories (BBCV 7285) 2001-02 UK VHS.mp4Christmas 2: Snowflakes are falling and a rabbit is sitting on the snow. As the camera moves to the right, we see another rabbit in the snow and the Tubbytronic Superdome. The tune with a quiet, mellow piano and bell Christmas tune is heard. This shot is based off Right Path 2, as the camera moves in a similar way from a similar location. An alternate version has the camera move to the left instead of moving to the right. This shot is used in most winter-themed episodes from 1998 ( Christmas in Finland, Christmas in Spain, main shot; Christmas in the UK, Nativity Play, alternate shot). The main shot also appears in Happy Weather Stories, while the alternate shot was never released on Home Media (like Field 8 and 9).

In the US version of Mandir Temple, the segment opens with the baby sun giggling, but instead of having one of the opening shots, it cuts straight to the Teletubbies lying on the hill. This is the first Teletubbies video that doesn't have a Magical Event because some of the sketches are too scary and frightening for young viewers including The Magic House (Bottom left window) on the previous video, they wouldn't be shown again until the rare 2001 video, Magical Surprises.US Version (also in most of Canadian/Quebec French, some Latin American Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese releases)

Field 4: We can see the house with the Magic Windmill behind until the camera moves to the left. The field will be seen. The tune plays where the opening is extended and the bells chiming further in the tune with a different key, occasionally using the normal. The sky is cloudy in this shot. It first appeared in Cuddles Gets Lost. This shot has two alternate versions. One is almost identical but the right side of the house is offscreen and the camera stops as soon as some flowers are visible on the bottom left corner of the screen. The other one is similar to the first alternate version, but with the camera positioned differently and the Magic Windmill being offscreen too, just like Right Path 2. You can see the first version in Cat's Night Out, the first alternate version in Fancy Dress, and the second alternate version in Jabadao. This Opening Shot is occassionally used further in the show, from Series 7 onwards, making it less common than previous ones, and the first alternate shot isn't featured in any Home Media release, along with Field 5 (main shot), Field 8, Field 9 and Christmas 2 (alternate shot). In Field 3, when the camera reaches the top of the window arch, what seems to be the shadow of some mechanical arm holding the camera disappears. Teletubbies - Uh-Oh! Messes and Muddles (BBCV 6601) - Happy Christmas from the Teletubbies (BBCV 6603) 1998 UK VHS.afpk Home Hill 4: The seventh Opening Shot used in the series, first used in Painting with Hands and Feet. It was also used as the last Opening Shot in the original series finale, Bubbles (Russia). The shot starts with the camera very high up, and we can see the Tubbytronic Superdome and the Magic Windmill. Then the camera moves down towards the house and stops once it reaches the ground. We can see the Tubbytronic Superdome and the Magic Windmill up close, but it is slightly zoomed compared to the other Home Hill shots. The tune with the bells chiming in the beginning plays. In Gymnastics, the shot is shortened/extended (meaning: the part where it moves towards the house and then stops is cut out, but it adds a small extended section never seen in the shot, as suggested by a couple of rabbits being in a slightly different position than in the main shot). This shot appears in 46 episodes and eight Home Media releases. After the Tubby Custard Cloud where the cloud floats away, it cuts straight to the Magic Windmill spinning for The Magic House, as the episode originally had The Jumping Dance afterwards. The Tubby Custard Cloud is one of the well-known Teletubbies segments. It is seen in the episode Swimming with Stephanie and the US version of Mandir Temple. It also appeared in the video Uh-Oh! Messes & Muddles (Funny Day in the US)

In the US version of Mandir Temple, after the Teletubbies say goodbye to the cloud, the Jumping Dance isn't featured. The Teletubbies go see the Magic Tree instead. This is because either they want to have their Tubby Custard right away, or the most likely answer, if they were to get their bibs, it would take up too much time, because there were so many clouds in the way. Occasionally, Opening Shots can also act as Closing Shots, where they end a segment, or Transition Shots, where it transitions from one segment to another (or simply a different location in the same segment). Teletubbies and the Snow (BBCV 6837) - Teletubbies - Ready Steady Go (BBC 6924) 1999 2000 UK VHS.afpkIn some uses of Home Hill 5 (Main shot), the house doors can be seen opening and sometimes a person can be spotted inside the house. This occurs in episodes such as Larette Tap Dancing and Haymaking. Oh-No! Watch tubby toast, tubby custard, a ball of string and a cloud indoors turn into the most wonderful messes and muddles in Teletubbyland. Sometimes Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa-Laa and Po make the messes and muddles. Sometimes the tubby machines misbehave. But the Noo-noo always tidies up in the end. And when the windmill turns, the Teletubbies can watch children in the real world enjoying messes and muddles - just like ourselves! Laa-Laa was the boo shouter in the UK version. Dipsy is the boo shouter both of the Korean and Russian versions. Teletubbies - Magical Surprises (BBCDVD 112L) and Animals Big and Small (BBCV 7142) 2001 UK VHS.mp4 In the scene Tubby Custard Cloud where the cloud floats away, it cuts straight to the windmill spinning for The Singing Man in the Pink House and this is the only VHS to end with a Magical Event and this is the last VHS to have a Magical Event until Magical Surprises.
