Aaron! Is! The! Bestest! Boy!!!! I love this brotherly dynamic in this book. This is without a doubt the least toxically masculine group of vampires I’ve ever read. (I know we have to be careful of the potential antisemitism in vampire lore but I feel this was super well done and flips the initial concept of vampires on its head (although I am not Jewish so I absolutely cannot speak for the community but it was something I keep in mind when reading vampire stories)). The ending of this book 🤯 It has me on the edge of my seat and I cannot wait for The Bonds That Break Us! If you could give a shout out to someone(s) who has helped in your writer journey, please feel free to mention them below! You don't have to choose now." His voice called out of the darkness, bouncing against The stone. "And you can refuse, no consequences. I promise."

He was caught between two worlds, forced to feed upon others lest he withers away into Dust. A monster, powerful and hungry. With no other choice, the man slipped into the shadows, doing what he did best: Hiding and surviving. Though it wasn’t like Tommy hadn’t had his run-ins. The vampires sent after him were brutal, each wave getting stronger. He was clearly pissing someone off now the way they sent in practically an army to deal with him. The last run-in had been the worst, leaving Tommy crawling out of the fight barely holding onto his life. A few cuts and bruises and a large gash on his side that refused to heal. I enjoyed the writing style and love a good dual POV that switches between the love interests, especially in an enemies-to-lovers story. I can't wait to read the 3rd book. I smiled, wiping a few tears. "No. You didn't. I'd do it all again. All of the good. The bad. To meet you."

See a Problem?

When hostilities deepen and war draws near, Wren is determined to rein in her wild magic and bind it to her will. With the lives of everyone she loves at stake, Wren must look within and decide if she is the monster she fears, or if there is light to be found in the darkest parts of herself. Always so curious, aren't you Wilbur." He shook his head fondly and Wilbur's jaw snapped shut. "Ah well, I've been around for a long time, you see, wandering this earth alone. But I'm tired now, and I want more," His eyes flashed a brilliant blood red, "More than an empty manor and quiet halls. More than I was destined to have on my own." He stopped and stared at Wilbur again, eyes once again hidden in the shadow. Some of the plot was told to me and I was expected to take it for what it was, (believe the scenario) but some things just felt implausible.

But there was something unusual tonight. The volume of vampires was odd. And they watched him as he passed, a mixture of crimson, amber, green and blue eyes, all glowing and unnatural, piercing his skin, seeing under his mask. He needed to get home, the wound on his side flaring and his mind racing. He was paranoid. They weren’t looking for him.

Meanwhile, a war is looming, and Wren’s feral magic may be the only thing that can stop the uprising from destroying the kingdom, her home, and everyone that stands in their way. After her sister is captured by the rebellion, Wren must seek help from the kingdom’s ruler who would sooner imprison her than offer aid. Except… Singard needs her, and when she volunteers the use of her power in exchange for his help finding her sister, an unlikely alliance is born. In fact, if there is one thing I think Cokeley NAILED in this novel, it is the pacing. The plot unravels at a very comfortable pace, the romance takes its time in the best way, and everything feels right in terms of the timing. This book ended on a cliffhanger, and I can't wait for the next book. I need to know what happens with Sin and Wren.

Being in hiding was easier than you’d think. Just keep your head down, don’t draw too much attention to yourself. Pretty simple, right? Well, it had nearly been a year and Tommy hadn’t been caught. Our blood relations are the living embodiment of our past, present, and the legacy we leave for the future.” Time," He stated simply. "strength, respect," Wilburs head jerked up at that, breath caught, but he stayed silent. "Power," the man finished, grinning at the way Wilbur's whole body seemed to strain with yearning. He could smell it on him. I was really looking forward to this book. Like many others, I found this book through TikTok and was immediately intrigued. I patiently waited for it to release, and when I bought it I was so excited to start it. But ultimately, this book is a catfish. Westrup is masterful in writing messy female characters, and Viola stole my heart. She is dark and vengeful and just this beacon of strength and resilience, but she has also allowed her rage to blind her to her own faults.Family isn’t just a lineage; it’s a network of hearts, each contributing to the tapestry of your life.” OH MY GOD is it bad. This book reads like a 2012 Wattled story that should have never even been up on that app. This story was so badly in need of an editor that I'm curious if it was written in the notes app - because some of these mistakes should have been fixed through Word or even having gramercy installed. Friends are the confidants, the support system, and the soul siblings who bridge the gap between blood relations.” Adorable! That's not necessarily what you would associate a vampire book with, but here we are. Aaron is such a golden retriever and I adore him and I need more male leads like him.

The Blood That Binds Us, @erinmainordauthor’s debut novel is everything! I was consumed by this story as it kept me reading late into the midnight hours. Family isn’t confined by genes; it’s the tribe of people who make you feel cherished, supported, and loved.” The characters are just painstakingly dull. I understand that the author was going for a "respectful" play on vampires, but there was a way to do that without making them lifeless. (pun intended) The main character was also just as dull as the rest of them. This book needed a lot of critical attention. Editing would have been an excellent beginning point to smooth out the very rough dialogue and details like slang and choppy structure. Without it… this book… ya know. (My irritation rose per every ellipsis in this book and dear God, so many. It wasn't like Cokeley had anything super heavy to say, unsure why she went so hard on them). Are you going to kill me?" Wilbur whispered, heart hammering in his throat, eyes lowered to the ground. All through his youth he had heard the whispers of monsters in the night, learned the deep-seated fear that came with deep shadows and quiet corners and the dead of night. People disappeared, found dead days later, empty husks with their faces frozen in pain and terror. Some people were never found. He knew the stories, but somewhere in the last year, he forgot to fear them. Now he was gonna die for his arrogance. He wasn't prepared for the Man to laugh inches from his face, his footsteps as silent as the night around them. Wilbur flinched.

In the vast expanse of life, blood relations are the constellations that give us a sense of belonging.” Going in I didn't realize this book was just part one, which is kind of important because this sets up A Lot. Especially the last couple chapters. Knowing that makes the pacing make a lot more sense though. Overall this was a very cute book and I look forward to the next one! This goes past just romance and has a very interesting story dealing with old power that I can't wait to see the progression of. I don't wanna say too much because spoilers but I do highly recommend this book and my only real complaint was that there was a fair amount of spelling errors. I'm gonna assume that's because it's an ARC though. These characters wouldn’t shut up, hah! I tease, but in all honesty, I carried these characters around in my head for many years before I decided I was actually going to sit down and write their story. I found myself thinking about them and seeing little glimpses of certain scenes when I would hear certain song lyrics, or be out hiking in the woods, and I was just constantly being compelled to get their voices out of my head and on paper. You were lost in your head. Its' closing time." She said curtly, still looking wary. He shook his head and stood, muscles protesting weakly after hours of disuse. He mildly wondered if that would still happen if he turned. PDF / EPUB File Name: This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.pdf, This_Blood_that_Binds_Us_-_SL_Cokeley.epub
