About this deal

This child car seat must not be used without the cover. Please use an original cover, as the cover contributes to the safety of the seat. Read the full Joie i-Spin Grow review for more information. Latest child car seats out of the Which? test lab

The Ride Safer Travel Vest is head and shoulders above the rest in terms of bulk, weighing-in at a featherlite 500g. It’s the go-to-restraint for savvy taxi-taking parents in Singapore. For little travellers over 3 yrs (or weighing 13kg+), it can be whipped on while flagging a cab and secured in a jiffy with a seatbelt once you’ve jumped in. It’s obviously not as secure as a car seat, but is still a safe option. Available from Mothercare, Taxi Baby and Kid on the Move . Equipped with a mifold booser seat, we love GrabFamily as an easy and super-safe alternative to taxis GrabFamily This is another extended rearward-facing car seat, and is approved for use with children measuring 45cm to 105cm (birth to around age four). Read the full Chicco Seat2Fit i-Size review to see what it's like to install. Please observe the instructions for using children's restraining systems in the operating instructions of your vehicle. I’m a new convert to the Urban Kanga after trying it out riding in Grab Family in Singapore. It is easily installed with a seatbelt and not too bulky (by comparison to a regular car seat). It meets ECE R44/04 safety standards so you can use in the UK and Europe as well as Singapore, at home in Hong Kong and all those destinations with relaxed rules. This is a great option for children aged one to four years, who are ready to be forward-facing. With a rotating and reclining seat, this extended rearward-facing car seat has some useful features for parents. So, you’ve selected your car or booster seat of choice, now it’s all about using it to the best of its ability. First of all, read all the instructions and do a practice run to make sure you know how to install it correctly. Most baby gear seems to be designed to be parent-proof, so take your time. The Nachfolger is expensive, and I can imagine inflating it would be quite a faff while a taxi driver is waiting. The seat must be secured with a seat belt or the ISOFIX attachment even when it is not in use. An unsecured seat may result in injury to other passengers in the car in the event of an emergency stop. As my daughter (as of November 2022) is currently 2 years old and weighing 12kg, I chose to buy the Uptown model. With the Uptown model, I can ideally still use it up to 4 years old. I also preferred it because of its weight — 3kg. Since your child might not be quite in the weight/height region for booster seats just yet, what about a lightweight standard type car seat? Something like Britax Eclipse (which is additionally plane approved) or Joie Steadi (which has a rear facing option). These are cheaper than most of the folding options so it might not matter that you'll only get a couple of years out of it. Or even the cheaper generic/own brand type supermarket seats by Nania etc - these tend to be pretty flimsy, and average to low on the performance end, but they are light, seatbelt fitted, cheap to buy and they score better than the Urban Kanga. Something like Nania Racer SP or Nania I-Max SP

One of its strong points is its price tag; it’s less expensive than traditional baby car seats from big-name brands like Chicco. That’s quite the relief for any budget-conscious parent! But hey, no product is a one-size-fits-all, right? Knowing these limitations can help in making an informed decision that best suits the family’s needs. Just an Alternative Which? is warning parents against using the Kinderkraft Comfort Up car seat (pictured above) after it failed to pass our rigorous testing. The crash test rating is not good; the side impact protection is basically nothing at all (more of a problem for this age group which is why it gets a worse score) and they rate it with a high risk of making an error while using, which is a problem, because if it's not fitted correctly then it's likely to perform worse even than this already not-great score. Installing the Urban Kanga Uptown baby car seat is a breeze – once you’ve had some practice. It’s going to a bit awkward and clunky at first, and it might take you some time to learn how to install the car seat efficiently.
