About this deal

I went home and followed his advice, and wouldn’t you know it, this time it worked wonders. So, if ever you’re having problems getting a product to work as expected, keep my little story in mind. You don’t want to apply weed killer in wet conditions as it will be washed away and run off, but you also don’t want to spray in drought conditions without watering the weeds a little first. When you use your watering can or sprayer, ensure you thoroughly clean out afterwards. It’s also advisable to not put remainder down the drain so only mix what you need. When used as a spray over larger areas of weeds, the Roundup Tree Stump Root Killer can take its time to work, and require several applications. However, it will eventually cause browning and result in the plant dying. In terms of its effectiveness, this product works well on woody growth – particularly ivy. As mentioned, several applications may be needed when treating tree stumps. It’s actually so strong, it has no problem dealing with the nastiest problems like Japanese Knotweed and Ivy. If you have this type of issue then I would recommend using this product ahead of all others. If you have a large patch to clear then in about two weeks this will show tremendous signs of killing off most annual and perennials. Here’s a look at a two week treatment that you can expect from using the product:

It does contain glyphosate, which is toxic to ponds and pollinators. It’s broken down into the soil so isn’t bad for the environment in that sense, but you do need to be careful to keep children and pets off the affected area until it’s dried. These ingredients are used because they specifically target certain types of plants. Therefore, they are often found in selective weed killers as they shouldn’t kill of grass or other vegetation that they’re not intended for. It’s a common misconception that chemical tree stump killers cause the stump to disintegrate. Instead, they kill the stump so that it won’t regerminate. If you want to get completely rid of the stump, you’ll need to remove it after killing it.

Roundup Fast Action Weedkiller Pump 'N Go

So as you can see, despite being half the price or less of the brand names in terms of how my Glyphosate you get, it’s easily as effective and in my opinion, probably more so, after all, Glyphosate is the main active herbicide. This will eventually end up double the price with a fancy brand attached. Fortunately for now though, we can grab a bargain. When I am looking for the strongest weed killer domestically, I go straight to this product. This weed killer can kill all greenery (including your lawn!) so a lot of care needs to be taken. If you spray any weeds on your lawn, you’ll likely affect the surrounding area too. For this reason, it’s better for individuals or clusters of weeds on your driveway or patio.

Whilst Neudorff might not be a particularly well-known company, their WeedFree Plus Concentrate is a powerful weed killer that works on relatively stubborn weeds. With glyphosate as its primary ingredient, this product does need to be handled and used with care. It’s toxic to pollinators and pond life, and children / pets need to be kept off the treated area until it’s dried. It does take a while to dry – up to 48 hours.Whereas glyphosate will kill all plant species (including grass and other vegetation that you might want to preserve), triclopyr is a selective herbicide aimed at broadleaf weeds, ivy and trees. It seems to work best when holes are drilled into the stump, and the liquid is applied directly into the hole. Although the sachets are easy to use in that the product can be dispensed straight away, it can be difficult to control and pour the liquid accurately. Using a tree stump killer can make it easier to remove. There are a few different types of product to choose from, and choosing the best tree stump killer will depend on your own preferences as well as the size of the stump. The Weedol tubes treat 30m2 each and are designed to go into one litre of water – so we will load 2 litres and two tubes: Two tubes of Weedol into a couple of litres of water Longevity: Any weed killers that needed to be reapplied after rain were significantly marked down, as this doubled the time you’d have to spend on weed killing. Weed killers that killed the entire plant, including the roots, were rated the best, as these are the only products that ensure long-lasting results.

It works well, successfully killing off tough perennial weeds like dandelions, and clearing larger weeded areas too, although the claims of ‘24-hour effectiveness’ are somewhat optimistic. The bottle of weed killer automatically dispenses out pre-measured amounts of the concentrated product. Although some thought is still required whilst making up the diluted formula, it’s easier than a classic free-pour dispenser. If your weed problem is bigger than just dandelions and clovers, this Vitax SBK Brushwood Tough Weed Killer is a bit more heavy duty. It can see off hardier plants like brambles, nettles and thistles, and is the best weed killer for clearing overgrown, unruly spaces.

I washed down my wellies as well as the garden sprayer after being sure to keep the chemicals out of our home!

Overall, this is certainly one of the best weed killers for getting rid of tougher weeds and tree stumps, but it does need to be used with patience as the results aren’t instant. Also, it offers quite good value for the price, with the 1 L bottle containing enough formula to cover up to 332 m² when diluted. Alternatively, residual weed killers will stop all plants from germinating, and non-selective weed killers will kill everything they encounter . Therefore, these are best used on patios or highly weed-ridden areas.

Here we will look at the ingredients of weed killers, based on what type of weed killer they’re most commonly used in. There are selective weed killers (only targeting certain plans), non-selective weed killers (not fussy about what plants they kill) and organic weed killers (using ingredients from nature). Here’s a look at the Gallups bramble and thistle patch after I’ve sprayed it and a couple of weeks has now passed, I haven’t seen good enough results on Weedol and Roundup to document yet. I’ll update when I can: Gallup started to wilt bramble after a couple of weeks As you can see they’ve all been very effective on the less hardy weeds – don’t worry. They aren’t getting a buy rating that easily 🙂 On to the brambles and thistle test next! Results Most customers report having maximum success with this product when it is applied directly to the roots (using the supplied pipette) or into drill holes in tree stumps. SBK Tree Stump Killer comes as a 250 ml concentrate, which states that it’s capable of treating up to eight stumps. However, large stumps will likely require repeat applications, so this number is reduced.
