About this deal

Wall tanking refers to the process of creating a protective, watertight barrier on internal walls to prevent damp and water ingress. If using a spray applicator, the spray finish provides an “orange peel” texture which is easy to clean.

Some areas of the wall may also take longer to dry than others, and you may notice some sweating. This is caused by condensation on the cold surface and is normal during the curing process. Tanking slurry at Build & Plumb KA tanking Slurry can be applied to new or old structurally sound surfaces. It can be applied either to the negative or the positive side and will negate dampness in groundwater permeation even under hydrostatic pressure.

How thick should Tanking Slurry be?

You may already know that tanking slurry is far from the only way to tank your basement or cellar – there are a couple of other options on the market – but it’s definitely one of the most effective. It’s also easier to apply than alternatives such as bitumen, which is a nice bonus. What is tanking slurry used for? For maximum effectiveness, it is essential that the applied layers of Vandex BB75 are kept damp for at least 5 days and protected against evaporation by sun and wind. Careful post-watering should be carried out at intervals, starting from the day following the application. Alternatively, the surfaces can be covered with plastic sheeting, wet mats or moist sand. The use of curing compounds is not recommended. Seal off any gaps - Using waterproof tape, make sure to cover up any areas where water ingress may squeeze through such as the joins between membrane sheets, around fixing plugs, or where the membranes reach the floor or cavity drainage system. Our tanking slurry is available in two colours, white and grey. As a general guide, use one colour for the first coat then the other for the second coat which makes it easier to see if you have completely covered the surface. Once tanking is complete… In addition, PermaSEAL Tanking Slurrycontains an acrylic polymer that imparts improved strength, bonding and abrasion resistance. After hardening, PermaSEAL tanking becomes a vapour permeable and watertight coating capable of withstanding water pressure. Tanking Slurry Uses

Plastering over tanking slurry Properties in areas with a high water table, at flooding risk or on lower ground with little natural drainage could be at higher risk. They therefore require a more robust barrier to deal with any water ingress. Walls above ground level do not experience hydrostatic pressure that leaves tanking slurry as a good option. Made Possible. However, walls below ground are often subject to hydrostatic water pressure and any flaw in the application of cementitious tanking can have serious consequences. Type C cavity drainage systems should be a consideration. More often than not, walls below ground like basements, cellars and sunken garages are surrounded by earth. This means that moisture, water pressure and ingress are serious considerations. How do you tank a wall?Normal problems with damp and water ingress can usually be solved by applying two coats of Pro-Build Tanking Slurry over the entire surface area. The second coat should be applied at a different angle to the original coat as soon as the first coat becomes touch dry. The second coat must be applied within 24 hours of the original coat. In hot and dry conditions a fine mist of water should be sprayed over before the second coat is applied.
