This is a minor, minor gripe, and has been a problem forever, but I really dislike the colour bleeding from the Elf hat onto their ears.
Outlandish additions to the Winter Village have sometimes received criticism, although this example seems rather versatile and could easily be adapted for display beside more realistic buildings. Furthermore, the set contains several outstanding additional items, including an elegant Christmas tree and an exclusive reindeer! The Elves have a tendency of sleeping in and being lazy, which is why the leader, Galadriel is equipped with a megaphone to wake them up. Only two of the faces have dual expressions, which is okay, but not great. As noted above, having a “sleeping” option for at least three of these characters would have been a nice enhancement. The Elf Clubhouse joins 2014’s Santa’s Workshop and last year’s Gingerbread House as a fantasy-themed expansion of LEGO’s beloved Winter Village theme, which is a personal favourite of mine. Before becoming a LEGO designer and creating this set, Chris McVeigh constructed some tremendous models. His classic computers are particularly popular and it therefore seems fitting to include another computer here! The angular keyboard and gigantic monitor are both evocative of computing from the 1990s and this model looks wonderful, displaying the elves' nice list in an appropriately antiquated style.
