About this deal

I would like to start by saying that I think the Leak Stereo 130 is an excellent choice for the basis of a stereo system. Leak was one of the very early legendary audio companies. It's great that they have been resurrected. I guess from what I have read I perhaps would need both an AV reciever and a stereo amp for the R3 (AV receivers don’t have enough power to drive them?) ,do I have to worry about matching which amp with wich receiver? Speaker-wise, the LS50 Meta (which I've had) are very good, but they're fussy about placement and I didn't find them as 'alive' sounding as the Q series. If there's any young fingers around be aware that grilles are not available for this model or the LSX. HT by-pass is now finding it's way into lower tier amps making such connections a lot easier. It was once the domain if higher tier stereo amps.

It has been designed so that the DALI SUB C-8 D subwoofer works just as well with music and movies. The SUB C-8 D is anything from a boombox because it has an 8″ down-firing woofer that is strong and detailed. The Dali sub C8D has a built-in Class-D digital amplifier and can deliver a massive 170 watts, with peaks of up to 220 watts. This low distortion amplifier delivers a strong, well-balanced sound to the bass cone that fills even the largest rooms. The C-8 D is melodic and quite capable of getting (very) loud. You get the punch you want from action movies, but the C8D is deft enough to let you hear the various textures of a bass guitar rather than just a single one-note bass boom while listening to music. Really looking forward to comparing the Sonetto 1 vs the Rubicon 2, and to see how well the Menuet stands up against these bigger speakers. I’m sure the Rega Brio will be fine but as I said I won’t be able to test anything else in that mid size price range with this dealer. Shame because I know there are more powerful mid sized amps like the Cyrus One Cast available and there will always be that nagging doubt wondering if it would be more suitable for the bigger speakers?!

Thank you both. This may sound a bit stupid, but I kinda assumed that if I go with a proper AV receiver I wouldn’t have to worry about amps/etc. I am starting from scratch, so would need a receiver as well and possibly a sub. Rght now these are on my list: Having discounted the KEF LS50s, I demoed the Dali Menuet SEs and the Sonus Faber Sonetto 1s through a Rega Brio + Bluesound Node combination. To improve sound reproduction in general, and to ensure that this subwoofer is able to perform under difficult circumstances, a limiter has been incorporated in the amplifier section.

List of Best Dali Subwoofer Series

I listened to the Kef LS50 but wasn’t impressed tbh. A bit dull and lifeless in comparison to the Dalis. Now, some explanation on my selection....my wife says she is not that interested and happy for me to decide but at the same time asking for a discreet speaker size!! Hence the compact Dali Menuets which review really well and look stunning. The KEFs also review well and I'm keen to compare it to the Dalis. I originally started looking at lower priced active speakers and, not being able to afford the KEF LS50 Wireless, I tested the KEF LSX against the Dali Oberon C. The Dali won hands down - clear, beautiful sound compared to a more dull, almost muffled, sound from the LSX. But I want to compare the bigger brothers for each. SVS PB2000 (PC2000) still outperforms (under 25hz) XTZ 1x12 / 12.17 and BK Mono+ if one is after the ultimate performance which i doubt in Harkon`s case... Arendal Sub1 is sealed model so it`s not a fair fight against PC2000. Harkon`s room is small so Arendal S1 or SB2000 "might" be enough there, some room gain helping them to dig really low. Prices should be very near each other. It would be nice to have CEA numbers from Arendal to compare it to SVS. SB2000 -3db 19hz, Arendal Sub1 -6db 18hz measured. But the bigger Arendal might have output advantage ~30hz upwards.. I have a feeling the Arendal guys knows how it compares to SVS as LSound sold both at same time.. Congrats on the Min's - they really are great for their size & a lifestyle speaker - the BMR drivers offer a wide dispersion unlike nearly all other drivers.
