About this deal

Previously I had rated the Nike Metcon 6 as better for running than the Nano X – and that’s still the case – but the Nano X1 has now become better.) When it comes to longer distances more drop is better – that’s why so many running shoes have 10mm of drop. The Nike Metcon still has that slim Nike Metcon feel with the low-profile design, so it’s not the best model for the wider footed individual who could experience heel slip. During our testing and reviewing both were found to be fantastic shoes, performing superbly in a range of activities.

This will help you mitigate potential friction on your ankles and it will also help you gauge how much the boot will interact with your ankle. Note, that this isn’t something that impacts everyone. However, it’s definitely something worth noting if you know you’re prone to blisters in some types of shoes. Reebok was the original CrossFit shoe, launched in 2011 and now on its 10th version. Up until the Nano X, the Reebok shoe featured the official CrossFit branding. The Nano was unchallenged in the CrossFit shoe market until 2015 when Nike launched its Metcon, working with some of the sport’s top performing and most influential athletes.

Like I said, sometimes the best shoe is one that’s designed purposefully for the activity you’re doing. Amanda says the X1s are fine for running short distances during workouts, but she wouldn’t like to run more than a mile in them on any given day. Wearing the Reebok Nano X1s for Walking and Everyday Activities Featuring a minimum of 40% USDA-Certified bio-based materials, the Floatride Energy Foam midsole is made from plant-based castor bean oil and EVA foam, and the outsole is made of natural rubber, while the Flexweave upper is knitted from cotton and wood. However, these fitted my size 6 feet perfectly. Getting them on is easy, as is taking them off. When they’re on, they feel snug and light; my feet weren't weighed down with my shoes, which made HIIT workouts involving jumps and leaps far easier. In the Nike Metcon 7, you should be safe going true-to-size, but do keep in mind that this model fits slim. If you have to size up because you have a wide foot, then you may run into some heel slip issues. Of course everyone’s foot is different – and the ideal situation is that you’d try these on first, but that’s hard to do in the era of online shopping.) The Reebok Nano X1 runs true to size, and has good width in the toes. I recommend going 1/2 size up on the Metcon 6 – otherwise it’s too tight in the toes – at least for me. YMMV. Reebok Nano X1 Versus Nike Metcon 6 Review – Overview

The outsole is a durable rubber with a uniform lug pattern of mulitdirectional grip. Most colorways have a contrasting colour design under the heel of the shoe painted on to look abit like you’ve stepped on wet paint. Other than that the shoe was comfortable, breathable and I was looking forward to putting it through its paces. As of this writing, there are 19 women’s options, including takes on the X1 like the Grit and the Adventure. Each of those comes in multiple color options. All of the X1 designs and colorways look like classic Reebok shoes, with a lot of the lines, contouring and curvature you can expect. They look super sporty. Reebok Nano X1 vs. Other CrossFit Shoes Overall, those are the biggest and most prevalent construction callouts that relate to performance for the Reebok Nano X1. Reebok Nano X Vs Reebok Nano X1

Both the Nike Metcon 7 and Reebok Nano X1 feature rubber outsoles with varying degrees of tread for traction. The Reebok Nano X1 features a lug pattern that extends pretty the full length of the shoe.

Again, this was not the case, and the Nano X1 in a UK size 6 (EU 39/ US Women’s 8.5) was the right fit, if a little shorter than the Nano X.There were just too many small elements I didn’t love about the shoe to put it up there with my favourites. This was mainly due to the fit (especially around the heel) and the instability in the forefoot. In the Nano X1, the foot feels slightly less stable, and slides forward when your center of gravity changes. In contrast the Nike Metcon 6 is heavier (but built like a tank) and it’s super versatile – thanks to the dual-density midsole and removable Hyperlifts – which let you choose 4mm or 12mm of drop. In contrast, the Nano X1 has something that can hardly be identified as a rope climbing supplement. There’s a small Ropepro label down on the side, and there’s sort of a tough area that looks like it would be good for getting a “pinch” grip on a rope. Here’s the RopePro area on the Nano X1. It’s quite minimal. For most of us, the weight savings is worth it. This really big rope wrap has an impact on weight though. Rope wrap to rope wrap. The Nike’s is massive, and makes the shoe heavier. The X1 has a minimal RopePro area.

Most shoes designed for CrossFit or HIIT workouts can get uncomfortable after a couple miles of walking. However, with the Nano X1s, that’s not the case. I could wear these all day—they can take me from the gym to grocery shopping to happy hour (ayyy) with no issues. There’s no real performance differences in those special editions – other than looks. Nano X1 Versus Nike Metcon 6 AMP. Reebok Nano X1 Versus Nike Metcon 6 Review – In Summary It might not sound much, but these small steps will hopefully add up to bigger sustainable strides from shoe giant Reebok. And boy, do we need them, when you consider the figures that show over 300 million pairs of shoes are thrown away in the UK each year, with the majority going to landfill (trainers are a main culprit here because they are made from multiple man-made materials that are practically impossible to recycle). My other concern with the X1 is that it has a very narrow (skinny) tongue that doesn’t offer a lot of padding.
