About this deal

You just aren’t supposed to be able to get the intense vibrancy that the C81 QLED is capable of for so little money. But unless you’re watching a Dolby Vision or HDR10+ source, there’s a problem… With most out of the box niggles with the 65C845K’s pictures fixable via the picture set up menus, the fact that the 65C845K leaves a little wiggle room for much more expensive Mini LED TVs to claim a picture quality advantage, though, in truth barely detracts at all from the simple fact that its pictures are almost stupidly good for its money. Sound Quality When comparing the TCL C641K QLED television to other brands in the market, it has impressive features and competitive performance. While other brands may offer similar technologies and features, TCL stands out for its reputation as a reliable and innovative manufacturer. The TCL C641K delivers vibrant colors, sharp image quality, and immersive audio, comparable to many high-end televisions from other brands. Additionally, TCL often offers its televisions at a more affordable price than some of the more well-established brands, making it a compelling choice for those seeking value for money. Value for Money

There is Apple AirPlay, and Apple HomeKit compatibility too. Some online specifications say it doesn’t have Chromecast built-in, but that would be mighty odd for a Google TV, and of course it does. The C805 (C755 outside of Europe) is another QD-mini LED TV announced during the Global Flagship Product Launch event and will be available in 50, 55, 65, 75, 85, and 98-inch models. This model is slated to feature 500+ mini LED dimming zones and 1300 nits peak brightness.

Xbox Series X and some PC gamers will also be pleased to find a Dolby Vision Game preset, so you don’t have to put up with a sluggish experience when gaming in DV, while a dedicated Game Bar menu system provides both information on your gaming signal and a couple of game-specific features. This includes a Shadow Enhancement feature that elevates the brightness of dark game areas to make it easier to spot lurking enemies, and an onscreen aiming assistant. Experience the true magic of colors and brightness with the TCL C841K. With HDR 2000 nits, this television reveals hidden details even in the brightest or darkest scenes, making every moment count. And that’s not all. Quantum Dot technology unleashes a spectrum of over a billion colors, ensuring that every image is a vivid masterpiece. Dive into a world where colors pop, details astonish, and your favorite content comes to life like never before. Illuminating Detail: Full Array Local Dimming in Action There is some good news regarding the C81 QLED’s handling of dark scenes. For starters, like Sony’s latest LCD TVs, the set opts not to compromise the intensity of bright elements of mostly dark HDR images. Had it done so, the clouding might well have been reduced; but so would the surprising (for such an affordable big-screen TV) sense of HDR intensity and contrast. So remember that these things are rarely as straightforward or as smart as they pretend. Persistence and cups of tea get you there in the end. The Google smarts also make setup an easy process, getting the TV on your home network and walking you through how to use the remote control for voice activation.

The comic book colours of The Flash enjoyed plenty of vibrant punch, while the lightning that surrounds his ‘speed-force’ was seared into my retinas thanks to those dynamic highlights. The more subdued visuals of First Man are still appropriately muted, and the C845 does a great job of handling the scene where the Apollo 11 command module goes into the shadow of the moon – a challenging sequence for any local dimming system. Putting together the stand was fairly old-school in terms of requiring 10 screws in all – six to put the base together, four to put the base onto the TV. Some TVs are almost screw-free these days, but no problem here – TCL’s diagrams were clear and the process straightforward, with the TV dropped flat onto its box, still in its protective sheetings, and the stand extending forward of the TV. It’s a flat folding shiny steel central stand here, rather than the little twin-end legs that TCL uses elsewhere. The rear-mounted subwoofer can become a little buzzy under pressure, and it doesn’t deliver rumbles as deep as I’d hoped considering its size. The C81 QLED’s dynamic range is still a cut above the affordable TV norm, however. Also helping the C81 QLED's brightness is its unexpectedly intense colour performance. Saturations with wide colour gamut HDR material – The Greatest Showman 4K Blu-ray being a great example – reveals dramatically vibrant tones that go far beyond the capabilities of most, if not all, similarly priced 65-inch TVs.
