About this deal

The Great British Sewing Bee will be on BBC 1 at 9pm starting on the 24th May 2023. There will be ten episodes in total, airing weekly. Ghislaine, 43 is a fellow Londoner and likes to sew garments for herself Great British Sew Bee book review – series 4 (2016) The new contestants of The Great British Sewing Bee are Adam, Lawratu, Julie, Cathryn, Damien, Farie, Andrew, Rebecca, Jean, Adeena, Raph and Serena. The location of the Sewing Bee studio used to be in London at the Metropolitan Wharf in Bermondsey, but in 2021 the production moved up North to Sunny Bank Mills in Farsley, Leeds. The 2021 Festive Specials and Season 8 have been filmed at this new location.

Marni has been sewing for 35 years and is a Canadian First Nation member of the Maliseet tribe. Marni likes using unique embellishments such as discarded feathers combined with recycled clothing and charity shop finds. Sewing Bee will air at 9pm every Wednesday night on BBC ONE so will be showing live on the channel, and available for catch up on iPlayer afterwards. She loves to make outfits for her children. Episode 5– In the fifth episode there are eight contestants remaining, after we sadly said goodbye to Hazel in week four. Jean, Art psychotherapist. From County Down, Jean helps children and adults through difficult experiences using art. She also learnt how to sew when she was a child.

Fauve is also a top golfer, who has represented Wales in the Home Nationals. She only started sewing five years ago when she joined a sewing class and made a peg bag. At the home she shares with her mum, dad, brother and nan, she has a small ‘sewing cupboard’ where she makes puff sleeved feminine dresses. Episode 9– In the eighth episode there are four contestants remaining, after we sadly said goodbye to Mark in week eight. The sewing bee theme for week nine is the silver screen! Episode 2– In episode two of the sewing bee, eleven contestants remain, after we sadly said goodbye to Angillia in week one. The theme for this week is sewing for the holidays. The date for Season 8's premiere is 27th April 2022. It aired at 8pm on BBC One and will be the first of 10 episodes. Matt– Broadcast engineer from London, 43. He recently started sewing in 2017 and started by making his own dress for a drag party. He makes clothes for this partner and friends alongside menswear for himself too.

Damien 39, IT Installation Engineer. From Bolton, he has a practical sewing style, teaching himself only three years ago! There will be 12 contestants this year, up from ten in series 5. There will also be ten episodes, with some of the challenges including sewing rugby shirts, flamenco skirts and palazzo pants! Aged from 24 to 64, this year’s contestants include a teacher, paramedic, doctor, jewellery designer, student, bank and youth hostel manager.
