About this deal

These are launch prices, too. As the months roll on, the prices drop as they do with TVs from all brands. So as the costs fall on LG and Samsung sets, they do with Hisense's, too.

Assembly is easy and, like before, there’s a cable clutter system to route cables through the protruding ‘feet’ of the stand for a tidier area. The stand supports the TV well, just like it did on the older model, but it takes up a lot of space. The TV’s side-mounted inputs include four HDMI ports (two HDMI 2.1 with support for 4K at 144Hz and one with eARC). There are also optical digital audio and wired headphone outputs and a powered USB port. An RF input lets you connect an antenna, and the set’s built-in digital TV tuner has support for next-gen ATSC 3.0 broadcasts. HDR10+, Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision IQ are more advanced. They can adjust contrast to suit each scene. HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ can also react to the ambient light in your room. It’s simple enough to rearrange apps according to preference, and the algorithms don’t take too long to start recommending stuff you might actually be interested in watching. And the VIDAA Free channel has some worthwhile stuff in amongst the dross, too – I was certainly pleased to be served The Limey during the course of this test. The U8K's pop-up Game Menu lets you adjust gaming-related settings on the fly. (Image credit: Future) Hisense U8K Series TV review: Gaming Not only do some of Hisense’s affordable sets rank among the best 4K TVs, but the company has also successfully expanded into the projector market, with certain models in its Laser TV lineup, such as the PX1 Pro , counting among the best 4K projectors.

We haven't tested any of Hisense's 2023 TVs yet, which have a focus on Mini LED displays, but we will update this article when we do. Hopefully Hisense can continue to close the gap between it and its rivals. Beyond streaming, there’s Google Assistant for voice control, recommendations, and searches, and the set also works with Alexa. You can access Google Assistant by pressing a button on the U8H’s remote control to activate its built-in mic and there are also dedictated buttons on the remote to directly call up various streaming services. We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for four months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. Televisions that cost less than the popular competition have made Hisense the fifth most popular TV brand in the UK. But low prices will only get you so far and, in previous years, Hisense's seat at the table has been more like the folding chair you drag out of the spare room when you have guests than the padded luxury enjoyed by some of its rivals. It’s a curious situation, perhaps exacerbated by the new models in the Hisense range taking more importance. While the Hisense remains a capable performer, it falls short of in a few areas. Laser TVs also come with a screen that the projector beams onto and this will need to be wallmounted. It even has built-in speakers, which is unusual for a projector screen. Should you buy a Hisense TV?

The remote is a similar effort to previous and a slight improvement as it doesn’t attempt to cram as many buttons into a small space. Features Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying a live scene and white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)A cookie set by YouTube to measure bandwidth that determines whether the user gets the new or old player interface. The U8K’s 2.1.2 speaker system is powered by a total of 50 watts and includes a subwoofer built into the set’s rear panel. Overall, the TV’s sound quality is quite good. Dialogue sounds clear and the speakers can get fairly loud before you start to hear any signs of strain. We uploaded the brightness measurements and uniformity photos after running the TV for two months in our Accelerated Longevity Test. Hisense uses Google TV as a smart TV interface for the U8K series. A built-in mic gives you a hands-free voice command option (the microphone can also be switched off) and there’s also a button-activated mic on the set’s remote control. Beyond Google Assistant, the U8K has an Alexa voice control option, and it supports Apple HomeKit and AirPlay 2 for streaming from an iPhone or iPad. Chromecast built-in provides yet another streaming option.

Their ULED TVs mostly use VA panels with a narrow viewing angle, so they aren't good choices for wide seating arrangements. They don't use viewing angle technology like Samsung, so the image looks inconsistent from the side. Hisense could also be spending less on R&D and tuning its TVs. It's not like all these brands put a few components in a thin plastic case and ship them all over the world. Each TV goes through tuning and quality control to make sure the picture and sound look as a good as possible. This is expensive and time-consuming, but how expensive and time-consuming really depends. Hisense could keep costs down by spending less time on this important step. High-end Hisense TVs support HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision, while its top-of-the-range OLED sets have HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ too. This puts them right in the mix with the household name TV brands. The lower average score of Hisense TVs just means your pool of models worth buying is smaller, but that doesn't mean there are none worth your money. Percentage luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 100% white output As a big-screen fitting for sports and movies, it also starts at a slightly cheaper asking price than the U7QF model it replaces. But does the more affordable price suggest the A7G is a downgrade on what came before? Design
