About this deal

Thirdly comes an addition to the general rules. First, the new Close Quarters rule removes long-range shooting penalties, so you’ll need to be clever about charging your enemy down an empty hallway. Meanwhile, the Concentrated Radius rule will have you rolling an extra die for weapons with a random number of shots and discarding your lowest roll .

Learning to play Kill Team is a doddle with the help of three video tutorials that’ll teach you the ins and outs of the ultimate sci-fi skirmish game. The Space Marines moved up again, the Heavy Intercessor Gunner and his comrade firing at the Necron Flayer remaining, though their shots failed to connect due to the low light. Big guns vs. robots in leather.

Kill Team: Octarius release date AND PRE-ORDERS

The rules for this kill team can be found in the Ashes of Faith book or in Kill Team Annual 2023. You can read our guide for these avatars of the Emperor’s will here. Chaos Cult Next up was the chance to choose some Narrative Effects for the mission: an Environment Effect, Walls Effects, Pitfalls Effects, Objective Effects and Terrain Effects. Rolls on each table gnetted us the following effects: The rules for this Kill Team can be found in the Nachmund book. You can read our guide for playing these chaotic champions here. Corsair Voidscarred

Parts for two-three extra bits of raised gantry (for some reason not mentioned in the Octarius book or instructions) If you’re playing a narrative Spec Ops campaign (more on that below), equipment works a little differently. Rather than freely choosing any item that takes your fancy, your squad will earn rare pieces of equipment throughout their campaign, which look to be decidedly deadly.

Kill Team: Octarius rules

Kaskrkin Kill Team (including new Guard transfers) – This is an entirely new set of sprues featuring the most highly trained soldiers in the Cadian army. As you may expect, I am completely new to Kill Team. This is my first experience of skirmish combat in the far future. This review is, in a way, a litmus test for seeing just how accessible a game like Kill Team is for those like me who are still pretty green around the edges. One unanswered question, currently, is whether an operator can take the same action more than once in an activation – to perform a double-move, or fight twice, for example.

The sons of Vulkan share their home planet of Nocturne with massive fire drakes, and these savage reptiles feature in much of the Legion’s heraldry. Raven Guard Contemptor Torso The rules for this team can be found in the Kill Team Annual 2022 book. Read our guide for these exotic explorers here. Gellerpox Infected SV – Save– tells you how high you need to roll on a d6 to pass a save roll. A roll of a six scores a Critical Save, which can cancel out a Critical Hit. There are two full Kill Teams in the box. The Chaos Cult weighs in at 23 previously available miniatures, including the Dark Commune and a glut of Chaos Cultists. These lesser devotees can mutate mid-battle, exploding in a mess of flesh and bone as they become vile Mutants and horrifying Torments.Still, after a couple of games, minor assembly niggles fade into insignificance – and the book-passingfaff ceases to be a real concern, as you’ll have memorised most of the key bits and bobs for both Kill Teams by then. Octarius is, for the most part, a well put together, well presented starter set – and, once you settle into this game’s rhythm, you won’t mind so much about the stumbles along the way, because (spoiler) Kill Team 2.0 is a really good game. The Necrons began their turn aggressively, particularly in the centre of the battlefield, where one Flayed One attempted to charge a lone Intercessor and was gunned down. His companion failed his charge, and ended the turn stranded in the middle of the room. Swaps with the Necromunda Enforcers are tough – the heads are different styles and the arm joins are a bit different. It looks feasible to put an Enforcer boltgun on an Arbites model. the Chalnath campaign book with rules for both kill teams in the box, as well as rules for playing campaigns and other battles in the Chalnath Killzone.

Compared to everything else in the set – and, to be honest, a lot of the New Edition Space Marine and Necron models currently available, the Flayed Ones are a bit boring. Of course, each faction plays differently and has various abilities and tactics that can be slotted in at different points in the battle-round cycle. With the Pariah Nexus expansion as well are additional rules which need to be slotted in as and when appropriate – like the Power Surges Narrative Effect, which is decided at the beginning of each round before the Initiative Phase. Kill Team plays pretty similarly to 40K, but instead of units, you have individual soldiers. In its simplest form, you work through the following list each “round”… At the other end of the Board, the ongoing melee between the Heavy Gunner and the remaining Flayer continued – but this time, the Flayer was successful, and killed the Heavy Gunner.

The Terrain

This book has rules for most of the 40k factions, but beware that much of it has been replaced by expansions or White Dwarf articles. W – Wounds– As ever, these should just be called hit points. This is the number of points of damage the operator can take before they are ‘incapacitated’.
