Description

Evelyn Pope is a character appearing in the episode Destroying Angel of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders. At the Barnaby's Tom and Joyce are playing croquet. Joyce makes comments to throw Tom off his game repeatedly. Tom admits he did genuinely care for Evelyn even with her mass murders in consideration. Rupert Vansittart appeared in three episodes: as Selwyn Proctor in "Market for Murder" (2002), as Desmond Harcourt in "The Axeman Cometh" (2007), and as Alistair Kingslake in "The Dogleg Murders" (2009). Joyce Barnaby ( Jane Wymark) (series 1–13)—DCI Tom Barnaby's long-suffering wife. She is tolerant of her husband, despite his being a workaholic who spent their honeymoon solving the case of the " Pimlico Poisoner", which suggests that they met in London. Joyce is an easy-going and friendly woman who likes to be involved in community activities. She has long possessed a desire to move out of their Causton home and into one of the picturesque Midsomer villages—only to be put off by the grisly murders that occur there. She's known to her family as an experimental, but not always successful, cook. Thus, Tom is often seen taking advantage of every opportunity to dine out. She married Tom in 1973 and their only child, Cully, was conceived on their honeymoon. Her parents are Muriel and Douglas. She said that she grew up with four red setters and a Labrador. She and DS Jamie Winter develop romantic feelings towards one another. At the end of series 19 she has taken a job in Montreal. [5] Dr. Fleur Perkins [ edit ]

I’ve left a lot out of the description here – the plot is really layered, and I don’t want to give too much away. ‘Destroying Angel’ is a really busy Midsomer – it’s got one of the series’ highest death tolls, as well as a number of attempted murders, and none of them feel shoehorned in. They aren’t the most elaborate deaths (although the one involving the titular Destroying Angel mushroom is not particularly pleasant), but I like that – this is a grounded episode that still features a level of dark humour. This is, after all, the episode in which one of the character happily proclaims that no-one is trying to murder them, before immediately being murdered. Clare Holman played Sue Tutt in "Ring Out Your Dead" (2002), Rose Southerly in "Country Matters" (2006) and Fiona Beauvoisin in "The Miniature Murders" (2019). Doctor Kate Wilding ( Tamzin Malleson) (series 14–17)—Dr George Bullard's replacement as resident pathologist. Her confident, competent, no-nonsense approach has earned the detectives' respect. She is unmarried and is also a professor. Her parents, Giles and Laura, have appeared in one episode, "The Flying Club". [4] In the series 18 opener, "Habeas Corpus", Wilding has left Midsomer to take up a professorship in Brighton. She is briefly seen on-screen in a photo with Ben Jones, who had previously relocated to Brighton. DCI Barnaby and DS Troy investigate the murder of Gregory Chambers who was killed when out in the woods mushrooming. He was one of four people who had recently inherited a portion of his employer's estate, principally a local hotel. With his death, his one-quarter share now passes to his wife, Suzanna, who has been having an affair with Tristan Goodfellow. It would also appear that Gregory was having an affair with Annie Tyson, who is four months pregnant. When Tristan is poisoned with a type of mushroom known as Destroying Angel and the other heirs of the estate are put at risk, Barnaby looks to find a common connection.Amateur Sleuth: Evelyn Pope, to Great Detective levels. Not only does she orchestrate the deaths and exposure of Gregory Chambers and Karl Wainwright's murderers, but this comes after she meticulously deduces the truth of the crime by investigating what seem to be vague clues and minor inconsistencies in the murderers' behavior. Her investigation even happens during the plot: her confession at the end of the episode doubles as The Summation, as she explains all the moments through which she uncovered the murder plot within scenes from the beginning of the episode before Barnaby hit the scene, explaining her conclusions step by step. Evelyn gives Clarice a new Mr. Punch puppet. She wants Clarice to do the Punch and Judy show at the fete. Evelyn knows she is ready after seeing how she did at the Grenvilles party. "Put your trust in Mr. Punch and Mr. Punch will put his trust in you. It's all about trust," says Evelyn. Richard Hope appeared in "Judgement Day" as Gordon Brierly, the local veterinarian, and seven years later reappeared in the episode "They Seek Him Here", this time as local actor and historian Neville Hayward. Elizabeth Spriggs and Richard Cant appeared in the pilot episode ("The Killings at Badger's Drift"), as mother and son Iris and Dennis Rainbird; they appeared again in "Dead Letters", this time as Iris' sister Ursula Gooding and her son Alistair. Destroying Angel" continues the high standard set by "Garden of Death". This is a True Midsomer classic, along with episodes of " Death's Shadow "or" Written in Blood", but in this case, this classic is also" seasoned " with mushrooms, so to speak.

This is one of the best episodes I've seen so far. Who the killer is, what their motives are and how they carry out the murders is quite clever and unusual. My only complaint is that damn Punch & Judy. I'll never understand why the tradition of this creepy and horribly violent doll is still kept alive but it did suit the story. I was quite amused when Troy finds Clarice attractive until she brings out that creepy Punch doll and then he's completely put off.Evelyn Pope admits she is the person responsible for the Murders of Tristan, Kenneth and Suzanna. Shortly after, she dies in Woody's arms. Her time had come and she wants Woody to be as happy as he can be with the rest of the time he has left. Barnaby and Troy go to Evelyn's house and watch Clarice rehearsing. Barnaby asks if Gregory was planning to include anything at the Punch and Judy that would have resulted in someone trying to silence him. Evelyn can't think of anything. He tells her that Annie has been arrested. She can't believe it. Clarice drops a polaroid photo of a mushroom. DCI Barnaby and DS Troy investigate the murder of Gregory Chambers who was killed when out in the woods mushrooming. He was one of four people who had recently inherited a portion of his employer's estate, principally a local hotel. The following actors and actresses who appeared in this episode have also appeared in the following episodes Deer in the Headlights: Kenneth Gooders sees his drink cabinet wobbling but instead of moving he is completely frozen and thus get crushed as a result.
