First revealed at New York Toy Fair 2018, Transformers Generations: Studio Series (aka Transformers: Studio Series), acts as a celebration under the Generations banner of over ten years of live-action movies, with characters from every movie represented. It has to date also coincided with Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts, the sixth and seventh films in the live-action film series. The design of Sideways's vehicle mode appears to be based off an Audi R8 tuned by APR, that was on display at the Michelin booth at SEMA 2007.

This item is currently scheduled for release, but is not yet available at mass retail. I know he's in scale, but this is the first time a figure's size has truly bothered me in this line, because there's just so much great detail here that you need to get in real close to see and appreciate.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (PSP) Revenge of the Fallen: Autobots/Decepticons Decepticons Campaign This mold was retooled into the Deluxe Class version of Revenge of the Fallen Dead End and Movie Advanced Series Dino. Despite Studio Series' prominently featured numbering system, there are several numbers missing from the line, as of writing these being: 86-18 and 94. Additionally, 79, 86-13, 86-20, 86-24, 95, 96, and 102 are missing, but are assigned to the Buzzworthy Bumblebee version of the line, though it is unclear if there are any plans for them to be released in the regular Studio Series line as well. 74 Revenge of the Fallen Bumblebee is the only set so far to be re-released in the regular line after debuting in Buzzworthy Bumblebee. Unfortunately, some copies of Sideways have very loose ankle joints, meaning he can be quite difficult to stand up. This is due to his very thin leg design, as well as most of the figure's mass being included in and around the upper half of Sideways. However, one can use Sideways's gun to help with his stability by having him holding it down to the point where it touches the surface Sideways is standing on.

Sideswipe's instructions aren't clear as to how his torso is supposed to connect with his chest in robot mode. The torso piece has a square peg on top of it and there is a corresponding square hole between the two screws holding the front of his chest together. Getting his torso section in front of his arm struts can be a somewhat snug fit. This version of Sideswipe is a Walmart-exclusive redeco of Sidearm Sideswipe. Featuring a new racing-themed deco, he is one of the most fanwank-filled mass released toys ever, featuring a small TransTech Autobot symbol on the rear fenders, an endorsement of " Lithonian Drivetrain" on the front fenders, another for " Maccadam's" on his trunk, one further logo that for " Sun bro", another ad for " Axalon Rattraps" (with the slogan "Safe. Humane. Yeah, right!" underneath), and finally the number 04, a nod to the original Sideswipe's Japanese ID number. Oh, and he's particularly blue and yellow. Sideways's toys and merchandise are not licensed by Audi, and are thus merely approximations of the R8. However, Sideways's appearance in the Revenge of the Fallen video games is fully licensed, so he is accurate to the car used in the film and has Audi's logos and signage. Sideways operated as a high-speed reconnaissance operative with the ability to snipe at Autobot opponents from afar with his plasma sniper rifle, engage them up-close with his rapid-firing slag repeater, and slow enemies to a crawl with his graviton mine when he needed to get away. He uses a pair of saws in melee combat. But the Studio Series Sideswipe is definitely the better of all three in my opinion. He is not too overly complicated to transform, he can actually stand pretty good but it does take a few times standing him to get the hang of it (got to adjust the toes just right), highly poseable, and he has both gun and sword options. I love the fact the swords can detatch if you want to replicate the scene in ROTF where he cut Sidesways in two.

Sideswipe's MechTech weapon, a large blaster, can convert to a runed Cybertanium sword with the press of a button. The weapon can be stored in any of the three MechTech ports in either mode, all of which include the spring-loaded filler piece to hide them when not in use. While the box art shows the blade of the flip-out sword painted blue with white Cybertronix runes, the final version opts for bare gunmetal plastic instead. Sideways was a crew member aboard the Nemesis during its mission to scour the galaxy for a Star Harvester. He was apparently wounded when the Ark warped into their ship and damaged it, as he was heard calling out for the ship medic in the aftermath. Alongside the rest of the crew, Sideways then boarded the Longshot and pursued the Ark to Earth. Convergence chapter 1 Unite for the Universe That was his huge difference between him and every other autobot...he rolled around like he was on skates..in rotf with the sideways scene his feet were highlighted well. It's a huge part of sideswipe to see wheel feet....and this figure just does not at all. While in many ways simply a larger version of the Deluxe toy, it has several changes. The wheeled feet may now fold out into a stand system, allowing Sideswipe to stand without having to balance on the wheels, or be left as is to retain a more rounded look, and his blades are now rubberized to prevent injury and damage, as the blades lay flat underneath in vehicle mode. The sword-hands can also be slotted into a gear system connected to the front wheels, which causes them to spin as the wheels are turned. The passenger's seat may either be used as a seat for Epps, or turned into a missile launcher slung over Sideswipe's left shoulder.
