Obviously this was never going to be a cheery movie, but it’s important for audiences to have something to root. ‘Is there a takeaway that is worth the pain’ is a question I often ask about unpleasant movies, and it’s one that naturally comes up for tragic romances. For two-thirds of Annabel Jankel’s romantic drama, “Tell It to the Bees,” the story rolls along like many we’ve seen before. It’s a 1950s period piece about the forbidden love between two women and the small Scottish town where they live that’s ready to tear them apart with rumors and threats. Then there’s a third act that’s so wildly out of left field, it shifts the tone completely. It’s an almost comical departure, but it’s certainly a disappointing one.

Jean is a doctor and Lydia is a woman in a failing marriage. I liked their relationship a lot though I will say that I felt it could’ve been a bit more developed. I feel like they didn’t really know each other as we don’t really get to see them have really meaningful and bonding moments. I wanted to see why they were so attracted to each other and feel more of their connection. Butler, Hillary (12 September 2018). It is 1779 and, at last, Claire and Jamie are reunited with their daughter Brianna, her husband Roger and their family, living together on Fraser’s Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible. And yet…With that said, this book is basically that but I decided to push through it and once I did I couldn’t put the book down. Once I got hooked, the writing became utterly pleasant and the choice of words and the atmospheric descriptions became great. It’s interesting how such a change can happen especially that I don’t tend to push through but I might start doing that more.
