It seems there is no way round this unlike the HDD and DVD nav database versions which don't have the same pairing/activation process with the central system. I plug my phone in ti the USB port and use the Android Auto (or Apple Play) which allows Google Maps. I'm hoping to get the issue resolved amicably soon with the non-Audi dealer I bought the car from, will let you know how it goes. I would say on these more modern systems it can take a bit longer than the older systems to update maybe or it is an Audi thing.
