About this deal

Even though Dr. Squatch uses natural ingredients, the list consists of some complicated names that you and I probably don’t understand. The important part to understand is that it uses charcoal for odor protection, arrowroot for moisture absorption, and probiotics to restore balance. Shampoo and Conditioner: 2/10, smells good but works like crap. Crap might actually work better. Final (honest) Thoughts Recently I spent a few weeks trying a natural deodorant from Dr. Squatch, a company that uses all natural ingredients to create men’s grooming products, which they claim are strong enough to counter guys’ burly body odor.

The list of ingredients in Squatch bar soap is boring as hell, but they’re all-natural, and the important ones are natural oils like olive oil, palm oil, and coconut oils, as well as shea butter, and some essential oils, depending on the particular bar soap. No harsh chemicals or artificial stuff like regular soaps. Stripping out the natural ingredients is one of the key ways that big mass-market brands save money, which is why natural deodorant generally costs more than traditional deodorant. They smelled nice in the shower, the skin exfoliating soap like the pine tar did wonders on my skin and felt great especially on my feet. Some soaps I remember had a good lingering scent, and they did offer a nice showering experience. The healthy ingredients that are used in the soap were great on my skin. In my experience with previous brands, most natural men’s deodorant keeps you fresh-smelling for the morning, but starts waning shortly after lunch, when the growth of odor becomes too much for it to handle. Apparently, the aluminum in most deodorants that clogs your pores so you’re unable to secrete sweat is really bad for you and your skin health. Who would’ve guessed? It also stains and ruins your shirts. And, for me at least, the deodorant I had been using for 20 years had started smelling weird to me after a few hours. I think my body chemistry changed.

First and foremost, it’s a superior product. As mentioned, Dr. Squatch’s deodorants don’t come with the artificials ingredients (and risks of negative health effects) of regular mass-market deodorants. My hair is kind of long, so maybe that’s a factor. Maybe this shampoo and conditioner would be okay with short hair. But, in my book, it was so bad that I won’t use it again. Ever… My hair’s lasted this long; I’m not abusing it like that twice. Unfortunately, while natural deodorant is free of the junky artificial sh*t that plagues traditional deodorant, in my experience natural products have a few problems of their own: Namely, most natural deodorants just aren’t strong enough to properly keep B.O. at bay and mask my disgusting stench natural man musk. it does leave a white creamy residue on you as well. This has yet to rub of on clothes and on the one side it stays on you doing a good job deodorizing. but then again if out and arms out, you lift them up and if looks like you've got mayo under each arm pit. or if you scratch under your arm you get creamy fingers. That been said it might be a good thing as it lasts all day and i've not felt the sweat that much.

I’m not a tall man, and I’m not particularly handsome. I can’t throw a 90 MPH fastball, and I can’t dunk a basketball. I don’t have a ton going for me, but I do have one thing: Great hair. The Birchwood Breeze deodorant smelled great, so I was really eager to try it. Dr. Squatch describes it as smelling “like a crisp birchwood forest.” I come from the school of thought that you can’t use the name of something when defining it, but oh well: Birchwood Forest it is.

Smells great, although I will say that the pine tar is a little too much like regular household pine disinfectant cleaning products! However if you like the smell of a fresh toilet, the pine tar might be right up your alley!

And third, there are multiple ways to score a deal, so if you play it right you’ll actually end up spending less on Dr. Squatch’s deodorant than you would on other, less-enticing natural brands. Total Score on Price: 4.2/5 Did the scent last all day? No, I don’t think so, but it’s also one of those things that you can’t tell by yourself. And, I don’t think any bar soaps last all day, so there. Another reviewer said in their nonsense blog’s Dr Squatch Soap Review that you can expect to get 10 washes out of this soap. That’s bullshit. I used one bar of Pine Tar every day (sometimes twice a day) for almost four weeks. This is after yard work, working on the car, fixing stuff around the house… You know, just being freggin’ awesome. I was so impressed with how long this soap lasts. I’m not sure if I mentioned it yet in this review, but I was shopping for all-natural deodorant, so I decided to try myself some Squatch. I would recommend the soap for its exfoliating quality, scents, and healthy ingredients; however, the scents do not linger, and personally if you want a scent to linger, just buy a cologne. I did not particularly enjoy the soaps breaking apart easily, maybe they have gotten better over the years. Additionally, they cost, a lot, and now that I'm trying to save more money I don't really have the spare cash to be paying for this kind of soap.

They don't last long, some soaps last longer than others, but for some reason, pine tar never lasted more than a week or so, and broke easily. A lot of the scents don't linger, and from my experience, the soaps never really lathered well. I never realized this until I tried other soaps, and got an insane amount of lathering. Second, Dr. Squatch actually provides better value for your dollar than other natural deodorants, because both its strength and its scents are specifically formulated for guys. Nowadays, many of us would prefer to avoid the aluminum, artificial ingredients and other harsh chemicals often found in conventional deodorants. With that said, would I slap on some Dr. Squatch then jog to a first date or a business meeting and expect to still smell fresh? Of course not.All three of the deodorants I tried smelled great, went on smooth, avoided unwanted streaks and stains, and – crucially – were strong enough to keep me smelling fresh all day. For modern, health-conscious guys who don’t want to deal with the artificial sh*t they put in mass-market deodorants – but also don’t want to spend the whole day smelling like a flower garden – finding a natural deodorant that’s both hard-working and masculine-smelling is a rarity. The natural soap is really Dr. Squatch’s thing. The company uses natural ingredients, a cold-process manufacturing method (which I don’t really understand, but maybe I’ll find a YouTube video to embed), and the bars are pretty beefy. They’re huge chunks of soap. And that’s a good think, as they are a bit pricey compared to big brand soaps.
