This is what the Prayer Book calls being ‘in love and charity with your neighbours’; look at the readings for the service and especially the psalm as a possible source for words and ideas; inviting a grandfather to speak about what it is like to be a grandparent, including any advice he has for new parents, or any things he wishes he had done differently when his children were young. Those who will be ministering to individuals should be offered appropriate help in preparing for this. One or more sentences in the following form, with the response‘We worship and adore you’, may be used at the points indicated by the letters in the text above. Choosing one from A, one from B etc. will maintain the balance; choosing more than one will provide the opportunity for seasonal and thematic emphasis. The Nicene Creed is traditional in celebrations of Holy Communion and, in contemporary versions, emphasizes the corporate: ‘We believe …’; The Trinitarian or Eastern structure followed in Prayers F and G places the Sanctus within the thanksgiving, where it marks the change of focus from Father to Son. In this pattern the narrative of institution marks the shift from praise to petition and the focus on the Holy Spirit comes after it. This Trinitarian pattern is slightly less clear in Prayer D. Prayer H is also Trinitarian in pattern, but the initial thanksgiving is concluded with the narrative of institution and the Sanctus is the final climax of praise at the end of the prayer. Is the structure and direction of the service clear enough for people to know where it is going? Does the service have an overall coherence, or is it just one item after another?Most modern rites place the Peace between the Prayers and the Preparation of the Table. Note the scope for placing it elsewhere, for example at the beginning or the end of the service, as well as the option to introduce it with other words, which may be composed for the occasion or the locality. See here. Preparation of the Table These prayers are particularly suitable as closing prayers for a non-eucharistic service. Though they do not refer explicitly to the sacrament, some of them could also be used as a Post Communion prayer, or as part of the Dismissal in a service of Holy Communion. The prayers printed in bold type are suitable for the whole congregation to join in. some other liturgical ending, including the Peace, the Grace or a suitable ascription or responsive conclusion. Those parts of the service where ‘ad lib’ or unofficial material may be used, or where there is provision made in the Resource Sections, e.g. the Greeting, the Prayers of Intercession, the introduction to the Peace, Prayers at the Preparation of the Table, the Post Communion or other suitable or seasonal prayers, the seasonal or other suitable form of blessing. The Peace
