About this deal

A highly moisturising moisturiser with incredible ingredients designed to support and maintain a healthy skin barrier. Sh-Polypeptide-1 and Sh-Polypeptide-11: the two Fibroblast Growth Factors which stimulate the growth of fibroblasts, the organelles responsible for creating collagen and elastin Because of the orange colour – it stains my pillow (could be due to the fact that I use a lot? but I don’t want to limit how much I use for fear of looking orange, I would rather be adequately moisturised, especially if this is the SOLE moisturiser I’m using in my routine.

So my skin tends to get itchy, flaky/scaling around the nose, mouth and sometimes chin area. Maybe it is because I’ve over exfoliate my skin or another product did this to me. Another reason is I tend to have runny nose (esp in the morning) because of allergies, so I always wipe my nose with tissues and dried me out (again). Then I watched @kellydriscoll and other youtubers that have mention this several times as their go to ‘barrier repair/care’ products. I'd been hearing about Stratia for quite some time on various skincare forums as a bit of an oldie-but-goodie that had made a big splash at one point, but always skipped it because I didn't think that barrier repair was something I needed. Until I suddenly did. I’ve found that this is quite light and sinks into your skin well if you don’t apply too much. It doesn’t drag when you apply it like a more linoleic-rich oil, but also doesn’t feel like it’s dripping off my face either (a bit problem when you’re oily!). It has quite a strong musty oil smell – to me it isn’t unpleasant, but I can imagine it could bother some people. I’ve been mixing a couple of drops with Liquid Gold when my skin feels extra dry, and using it under tretinoin to try to reduce irritation – it’s working really well for both. I’ve also lent this to my sister to help with spironolactone-induced dryness and she loves it too! It was founded by Alli Reed, a young American cosmetic chemist. And the approach of the brand is everything I like: super well designed formulas, focused on effectiveness above all, with no frills and at very decent prices. Whenever we talk about Asian Skincare products, we assume them to be Korean. But this time, I’ve considered and tried out Japanese skincare brands. Trust me; they are promising and quite reasonable. One of the products that I recently bought from Japan is Kikumasamune Sake Milk.

I think what lets this product down is the orange tint/tinge it gives the skin which means I am forced to use this in the PM and can’t wear it in the AM if I wanted to. And of course I have to be worried about staining white pillows. Okay, but seriously…**everything in this ingredients list is AMAZING. And rightly so, that’s the whole idea behind DIY in the first place: if you make it yourself, you know everything is there for a reason without any fluff or fillers. Lipid Gold, formerly known as Liquid Gold, is a one-stop skin-saving powerhouse moisturizer that belongs in every skincare routine. It’s formulated with ceramides, cholesterol, and fatty acids, the three main ingredients that make up your skin’s moisture barrier, to keep your face healthy, clear, and resilient.

Conclusion: If your skin gets sensitized or very sensitive, try this one! But for those who has acne prone skin (including me), I don’t think this would do much for acne because based from my experience it’s just a nice barrier repair for dry-patchy, dehydrated and sensitized skin. I would still prefer BHA to treat my acne though. But it is still my fav ‘SOS’ product.

Overall, we think that Stratia Liquid Gold is formulated well and should help to moisturize and brighten skin, but we wish the brand would reformulate with a different preservative so that the formula would be paraben-free. Pros These two ingredients complement peptides to help hydrate your skin by binding to environmental moisture. Licorice root extract How it worked: And here’s where the other part of the title of this post comes into play. I have a long and glorious history of overexfolating my skin because…well, basically because that’s what I thought I was supposed to do. Physical exfoliants, all sorts of acids, inappropriately high strength retinoids…I would throw them all at my face at once every single day until literally my whole top layer of skin peeled off in sheets in the shower and I was shiny and red as a cherry. Even normally gentle products would sting like the devil, and I never questioned it because I honestly thought that’s how it was supposed to work. I’d fry the life out of my skin until I couldn’t handle it (so like 3-4 straight days of all this), then take a break for a week, maybe less, and then I’d start all over again. It was a roller coaster, let me tell you, and I did this for years. And another 5-star review says, “This stuff is FABULOUS, I just got done with almost a year on accutane and my skin is so dry and so sensitive, and this stuff is like butter, it brightens my skin, and makes it so incredibly soft it’s unbelievable. I hooked two of my best friends and my mom on it, they are equally as pleased.”

There’s a lot of talk these days about the skin’s moisture barrier, which is a kind of mixture of fatty substances located in the upper layers of the skin that allows it to better retain moisture. rc-container-wrapper .rc-template__legacy-radio .rc-radio__label:before { content: ''; height: 20px; width: 20px; Licorice root extract and allantoin gently brighten your skin without causing irritation like a lactic acid exfoliant might. Nourish your skin barrier I do think those with oily skins should really keep their routine simple when using this, so the skin isn’t overwhelmed with serums + creams Even if you have acne prone skin or oily skin, this moisturizer enriched with encapsulated and targeted peptides shouldn’t break you out at all.Add to that the fact that we all have to wear a mask at the moment (which also causes a lot of skin irritation and breakouts aka “ mascne“), and you’ll have the whole picture! In desperation, I made a Hail Mary appointment with Kristina Holey, a holistic esthetician (whom I discovered only because Glossier’s editorial director, Emily Ferber, name-dropped her at an event).

rc-container-wrapper .rc-template__legacy-radio .rc_widget__price { position: absolute; right: 0; }I am trying to slowly increase the frequency of my application and in a few months, I will also try to increase the concentration of tretinoin (if my doctor is OK of course, remember it’s a prescribed medication). Now the question is only this: If we put ceramides all over our face do theywork as well as ceramides already naturally in our skin? Well, the answer is probably a no, but they do work to some extent. The BeautyBrains blog made a fantastic article about ceramides and they have listed a couple of examples about studies showing that ceramides - especially when used in certain ratios with cholesterol and fatty acids - do hydrate the skin and can help to repair the skin barrier. The formula of Liquid Gold allows to restore this barrier thanks to its “magic” trio of ingredients: ceramides + cholesterol + fatty acids, the three main ingredients of the moisture barrier of our skin.
