About this deal

They sit there together, husband and wife. Passionate lovers and professed soulmates who share everything but honesty. Three women, linked by buried secrets, circle the man who so willingly accepts the return of his dead wife. Somewhere along the way, however, our professional distance closed and eventually disappeared altogether. He’s the closest thing to a son I will ever have, and that has made him a blind spot. But now I see. Wow, is this book twisty and twisted! I am a huge fan of Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, and So Close is almost an ode to Rebecca. I love a good psychological thriller, and top it off with unreliable narrators and the feeling that more than one of them is a little mental? Yes, please! This book was so fun to read, I read it all in one go." — March 2023 From the author of the Crossfire saga comes the beginning of a twisty tale of obsession and fury, as a trinity of women protect what they covet at any cost.

AMY: Kane’s sister-in-law who is obsessed with him in an obviously unhealthy way. She gave me so much secondhand embarrassment when it came to her thoughts and actions. I felt sorry for her as much as I disliked her. I greet them both with a nod and offer to take her wrap, standing by as her attentive escort assists her instead. Fury ices my blood. I will not be talked down to or allow my thoughts and feelings to be marginalized. I ignored my instincts with Paul and learned a hard lesson, and it’s one I will never forget. “Watch your tone, Darius. I’m being cautious, not hysterical. Protecting Baharan and this family is important to me, and I won’t apologize for it.”Family drama. Kane’s mother Aliyah and his sister in law Amy - fight to take control of the company. Steamy sex scenes and intriguing plot twists will have readers clamouring for more * Library Journal * Amy, Kane's sister-in-law, has always been a pawn in the dangerous games this family plays. But she knows she deserves more, and will do anything to claim the biggest prize.

It has been the desperate attempt to escape from torturing memories, from a sense of insupportable loneliness and a dread of some strange impending doom.” Darius.” My tone clears the barest hint of sulkiness from his face. “You don’t know that. And if you won’t do it for him, do it for me. This is distressing for me, too.” When Kane approached me about resuscitating Baharan Pharmaceuticals six years ago, I thought we might finally become a family. My second husband – who hadn’t been remotely interested in raising another man’s son – was finally out of the picture. Kane took my advice about seeing his brothers educated for key positions within the company. I’d thought perhaps my children would all be together at last, but only Rosana was happy about reuniting with her eldest brother. Darius and Ramin bristled against Kane from the first, resenting being viewed as obligations.I might not love it like I would have loved an amazing and sweet romance, but I appreciate it and I cherish it and I will probably never forget it. That's what Sylvia said and that's what I was a bit worried about. Also the blurb worried me - so as a romance lover - I was a bit scared to start reading. But I was also super excited to get something new from Sylvia, because I was such a huge Crossfire fan. A woman laughs too loudly. Too much to drink, clearly. And she’s not alone in over-indulging. A flute falls from someone’s careless grip and shatters, with the unmistakable discordant music of tinkling shards of glass. You will GOBBLE IT up . . . Take the plunge into the rip current because it is about consume you and leave you gasping till October 2023 for the next instalment' 5***** READER REVIEW And I guess that's the thing. The not-so-typical-romance thing. We're not supposed to know if we should love him as our hero.

Some of my favorite characters are Amy, who is a raging alcoholic driven to insanity? Aliyah is someone who would step over a dead body to get to the money. Witte, well, a total surprise and I love him. Can I have one of my own? Kane. We cannot reveal too much or there will be a spoiler alert. The same applies to Lily…and a few other characters who were hidden in the shadows but rose to the surface as we neared the end. They were a pleasant surprise and I cannot wait to read more about them…in a future story. He has been a widower for 7 years, a wh*re for most of them. I assume. basically he likes brunette hair and green eyes, much like someone else we used to know 👀 Mr. Cross. He has slept with every brunette woman in his circle. Which leads me to believe Lily will ultimately have to meet them. ALL OF THEM at some point in time. This woman blatantly derives pleasure from wishing and wanting harm on another woman. The woman in question is Eva who just complimented Amy (sister-in-law) on her gorgeous suit. Another thing I had issue with -> I keep mentioning Kane because the story revolves around him, but interesting enough we never get his POV. Everything we know about him, and his actions comes from these four people – and three of them may or may not be unreliable narrators. (I’m still trying to figure that unreliable thing out.) It made me even more curious about what is going through his head and the decisions he makes. I really loved that. I’m hoping we get his POV in the second book.

A flood of people rushes by in front of us, most with heads down and a few with ear buds that I suppose offer some respite from the cacophony of the busy city. I glance at the time, making sure we’re on schedule. I could sit here and continue to gush, but let me say that if you have missed the Crossfire vibe, this book is fire! Day captures the reader completely with her impassioned writing that spins you right into the obsessive compulsion of this family tree! Three women, linked by buried secrets, circle the man who unquestioningly accepts the return of his beloved long-dead wife.

Well, we didn’t talk about it because it’s no fun hearing about a book you can’t get your hands on for the foreseeable future. But the wait is finally over, and I’m excited to talk about So Close! I can answer your questions, and best of all, you can reserve your copy today. Within the glass walls, tension seethes. Dangerous electricity charges the air, the inevitable result of confining rivals in a neutral space. Restrained by decorum and the fear of losing face, adversaries bristle, claws and fangs only briefly and resentfully sheathed. At times I thought it was familiar, but it didn’t take long for Sylvia Day to have me meandering down a convoluted path of betrayal and danger, intrigue and surprise. I love a story I cannot figure out and she kept me guessing.I just don’t understand why we have to rush over there,” he argues. “He’ll need time to get his new story straight, and his wife is being treated for whatever is wrong with her. We’re putting off something important for nothing.” On the exterior, I can scarcely see the unpolished young man who hired me six years ago, so recently widowed and paralysed with grief that my first task was managing anyone who approached with queries or condolences. In time, he harnessed his pain into fiery ambition. That—and his singular intelligence—revived the pharmaceutical company his father had made insolvent through embezzlement. This story is so worth waiting for! Twists and turns, weaving the truth and lies in a tangled web. Impassioned and freaking hot! How does that grab you?
