About this deal

The Folk of Air series is a fun read in 3 parts. Plots with surprises; detailed worldbuilding; characters that grow in satisfying ways. We were mortals and we had no fixed future in Faerie. You were wondering about your place here, just like I was." Lonely, and still haunted by the merciless torments she endured in the Court of Teeth, she bides her time by releasing mortals from foolish bargains. She believes herself forgotten until the storm hag, Bogdana chases her through the night streets. I think my second favourite aspect of their relationship ( after the games and sparring match) is how their need and attraction and glimpse of a kindred spirit morphs into denial and fury and fiery hatred as they run away from the feeling they despise lacing through their love, all while being helpless to do so. Running at full speed on the tilted ground drenched with a rain of pain and desire, Cardan has already slipped. It’s Jude’s turn to do so. Jude… is so great. She's seriously becoming one of my favorite fictional characters of all time, and I don't really know how? Her narrative voice is so strong, shaping and characterizing the world around her. The strength of her voice perfectly counteracts the desperation we see within her to cling to power, to not give up the few gains she has made. She's so delightfully unlikable and yet manages to gain audience sympathy at every moment.

This novella is written as a letter from Taryn to Jude basically trying to explain why she did the things she did, and seek some sort of forgiveness. And while I really have zero sympathy for Taryn it kind of made me feel for Jude, even more than I already do. Taryn, is the type of person that desperately needs to feel wanted and y'all that is so far from myself. Can't relate. The rundown of this novella is basically this... she's a shit sister, who is willing to make some pretty horrible choices because she thinks being with a manipulative asshole will make all of Faerie love her and that's all she wants. Taryn, honey, please just stop.He looks like a faerie lover stepped out of a ballad, the kind where no good comes to the girl who runs away with him.” The next morning, Cardan learns that his brother was killed by Jude in a duel. Orlagh arrives to have Cardan account for why her Ambassador was killed. Cardan accepts no blame because it was not his wish for his brother to die. Orlagh knows it was Jude and demands justice. She threatens war, and he threatens to use his powers over nature that being the High King of Elfhame grants him. He can control the land under all of the water, and to prove this, he creates a new island to emerge from the water. As he does this, Cardan traps Nicasia in a tree, and Orlagh relents in exchange for Cardan releasing her daughter. Cardan requests Nicasia stay behind on the land to serve as an ambassador. To further appease Orlagh and maintain peace with the Undersea, Cardan exiles Jude to the mortal world. She protests that he cannot do this because she is the Queen of Elfhame, but she is laughed at and dismissed. Ultimately, Jude goes to live with Vivi and Oak in the mortal world. and this is not because it’s ya, or more politics than romance, or whatever people say. i’ve read books with less romance that i enjoyed more. it’s not the quantity but the quality that i have an issue with. And I know everyone has already made a very big deal about the end of this book, and they aren’t wrong. You all thought The Cruel Prince cliffhanger was bad? Oh, sweet summer children. And, obviously, I won’t spoil anything, but there are so many different ways to interpret what happened. I’m going to be vague, but when you love someone or something, you will protect it at all costs. Also, the juxtaposition from book one to book two? Probably the best thing I’ve ever read in my entire life.

Cardan’s older brother Dain offers Jude the chance to be his spy in exchange for immunity to any glamour except his. Jude accepts. On her first mission to Prince Balekin’s home Hollow Hall, Jude steals a copy of Alice in Wonderland. She discovers a letter from Orlagh, the Queen of the Undersea and Nicasia’s mother, implying that Balekin will poison Dain with blusher mushroom. She also sees Balekin beat Cardan in a swordfight and lash him with his belt for not killing a human servant.Taryn and Jude are twin human girls, living in faeryland due to a series of unfortunate circumstances. Vivi wants Jude and Taryn to live in the human world with her girlfriend Heather, but Jude has grown too used to Faerie. Cardan Greenbriar: High King of Elfhame; Asha and Eldred's son; Balekin, Kaeliq, Elowyn, Dain, Rhyia and Caelia's half-brother; Jude's husband If you put me in a library and tell me said library is closing in 45 minutes and also that after that it will be closed for at least two weeks (but really for the foreseeable future), things happen.

The Folk of the Air series has been reprinted into special editions by multiple companies including, illumicate, Fairyloot, and Barnes and Noble. In 2022 Litjoy also announced the complete special editions of The Folk of Air series. Or maybe it’s another horror story. It seems like the difference is mostly in where the ending comes. The Lost Sisters (2018) is a companion novella from the perspective of Jude's twin sister Taryn Duarte. It is available only as an audiobook and an e-book. [2]

You’re awful.” He [Cardan] said it as though he was delighted. “And the worst part is that you believe otherwise.” Taryn was never one of my favourites, but her part in this book makes her look less in my eyes. Even though she seems disturbed herself, she is too naïve and easily manipulated by her absolute desires of normalcy. And she’s stubborn about them too. Meanwhile, Prince Dain is to be crowned within months and he takes in Jude as a spy, due to her human ability to lie (which faeries cannot) and employs her in the Court of Shadows with a trio consisting of The Roach, The Bomb and The Ghost. Prince Dain gives Jude a geas that prevents her from being enchanted into obeying instructions from fae (mind magic). Jude begins a practice ofmithridatism– taking small doses of poison to become immune to its effects.Jude is held captive in a cell in the Undersea where Nicasia comes to assault and berate her. Jude is brought to eat dinner with Orlagh, and since she is not wearing any charms, Orlagh believes Jude can be ensorcelled to do whatever they command. Even though Jude is protected by Dain's geas, she acts like she is under their spell. Jude is questioned by Orlagh though is also able to learn some of their schemes. She learns that Grimsen is making a new crown to make Balekin king. Sidenote: one running theme I found quite amusing is how often people pointed out Jude's affinity for murder. But alas he is still who he is and any sort of personal feelings he may have fall second to his boundless ambition. Probablemente es el mejor “enemies to lovers” que he leído porque literalmente es eso, al principio se odian, y mucho.
