About this deal

Plumbing World is a plumbers merchant and bathroom showroom that has been trading since 1996 and has gained a vast amount of experience in dealing with individual customer requirements. The valve on the right in this photo is Marie’s street-side main shutoff; the valve on the left is the house-side main shutoff. In newer homes, these will probably be ball valves. Our priority is fixed on your requirements and how to best meet them. If you have any special needs we will be only too pleased to accommodate them. Our customer satisfaction record has been maintained consistently at a high rate of 99% and we continue to strive to maintain these standards with an aim to exceed our customers’ expectations. We offer customers the very best products and provide our high quality services again and again. A good gas plumber will be more than happy to provide plenty of advice and guidance along with their service. If you have any questions about your central heating system or gas supply, why not keep a list? When you next see your trusted local gas plumber for a boiler service or gas heating repair, they’ll be more than happy to take you through all the items on your list. A happy safe customer that knows all about their heating system is a great customer for any good gas heating engineer. Whether you need a pressure relief valve, low pressure straight cut-off valve, or safety excess flow valve, our range of gas safety valves can help prevent sudden pressure changes and allow for cut-offs when warranted. The right equipment for natural gas systems

If you’re working near the main or individual gas valve and clearly know the source of the gas leak and that gas hasn’t been leaking for long, shut off the valve and get out. But if you’re uncertain of the source or how long the gas has been leaking, clear yourself and your family out and call the gas company or fire department from a neighbor’s house (not your own—remember, phones can generate sparks!). Always err on the side of caution. Stop valves are typically made from brass, bronze, or stainless steel, while gate valves are typically made from cast iron or ductile iron.Stop valves are typically used in applications where it is necessary to completely shut off the flow of fluid, such as in residential and commercial plumbing. Gate valves, on the other hand, are typically used in industrial applications where it is necessary to control the flow of fluid. When high-temperature resistance is a must, especially in domestic installations, any of our ECVs are a good option. The range also includes electrically insulated valves. If something accidentally opens your system to the atmosphere (accident, broken line from tire blow out, etc.), it would be quite possible to completely drain the tanks at a rate of about 20% of full flow.

Home water and gas systems contain two types of shutoff valves: main or master shutoff valves for stopping the flow of gas or water to the entire house, and individual or supply shutoff valves for specific appliances and fixtures. We’ll look at both types and tell you how to identify them (since they often look similar), where they are and how to operate them. Now, if we were reading of 30 or 40 or 100 propane explosions caused by catastrophic high flow propane leaks every camping season, they'd probably be "OEM" mandated by RVIA. It might not seem important until suddenly it really is. Please believe me when I say, being able to shut off supply of water and/or gas to your home is very important. Today we’re just going to talk all about your gas supply There's just so much you can "add to a trailer before it becomes too heavy to drag behind an underpowered/undersized 4 cylinder turbocharged grocery getter"... We provide a regular delivery service throughout the West Midlands by our own team and use the service of an independent courier for our customer’s from all other regions to ensure we provide a timely service. Our plumbers merchant sales counter offers a friendly professional service to all visitors both trade and retail.A plumbing system has a variety of water shutoff valves at various points along the water pipes that allow you to turn off the water during emergencies or for repairs or upgrades. Shutting off the water is often thefirst stepof many plumbing projects. Thus, being able to locate and turn off the appropriate water shutoff valveis very important. Between the water main in the street and the meter, there’s also usually a buried curb stop valve (accessible only by city workers wielding special long-handled wrenches) and a corporation stop, where your house water line hooks up to the water main. Your city absolutely doesn’t want you messing around with these last two valves. A stop valve (also known as a shutoff valve) is another type of valve used in plumbing and engineering projects. Unlike gate valves, which use a rising stem to open or close off pipes, stop valves use an external handle connected to an internal plunger-like component called a plug. Turning this handle rotates the plug inside the valve body to either open or close off flow through pipes. One significant advantage of these types of valves over gate valves is their ease of use; unlike most gate valves, you don’t need any tools to operate them—turn the handle! However, one disadvantage of stop valves compared to gate valves is that they’re not designed for high-pressure applications; if too much pressure builds up in pipes where these types of valves are installed, they may leak or become damaged due to their weaker construction compared with gate valves. Difference Between Stop Valve and Gate Valve

With immeasurable benefits for the user and the system as a whole, our collection of solenoid gas valves includes products that help when you want to ensure a system has the functionality for resets or needs linked to an alarm system. Are you a mechanical engineer or plumber looking for the best valves for your next project? If so, it’s essential to understand the difference between gate valves and stop valves. Both are popular choices, but each has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this blog post, we’ll break down the differences between gate valves and stop valves so that you can make an informed decision. What is a Gate Valve? If your home is newer and you find a flexible copper pipe running from the meter into your utility room, you probably have a higher pressure gas system. In this case, your inside main shutoff valve ( Photo 3) is probably near your furnace or water heater, just before it enters a flying saucer–shaped doodad called a pressure regulator. There’s also a chance your home—especially if it’s older—doesn’t have a house-side main shutoff valve. Photo 4: Hang a wrench near the shutoff As Marshall points out, RV propane tanks can BLEVE (boiling liquid expanding vapor explosion) when in close proximity to fire impinging on the tank. It is also true that neither the Gas Stop valves or other devices would prevent a BLEVE. However, I believe the Gas Stop valves serve the purpose of initially limiting adequate gas from escaping to start a fire or support an explosion. Here's a personal example:

Practical

Water shutoff valves can range from the main valve found near the water meter where water first enters your home to small, individual fixture shutoff valves that mark the transition from the branch water supply lines to the supply tubes that deliver water to faucets, toilets, and other appliances. Some of these valves are quite large while others are small. Some things in life are worth learning before it’s too late—like the locations of your water and gas shutoff valves. Now granted, these shutoff valves are often hidden in some dark, creepy corner of the house. But if a water pipe springs a leak, knowing where the shutoff valve is could save you thousands in water damage repairs. What’s more, you can’t make those major plumbing repairs or improvements unless you first turn off the water. The same goes for turning off the gas—though with some strict safety precautions, which we’ll talk about later.

Where gas appliances are in use there a should be a local or appliance gas shut off or isolating valve. This is typically a lever ball valve with a handle (often yellow). When the handle is in-line with the pipe, the valve is open and gas will flow to your appliance. To shut off the gas to the appliance, turn the handle 90 degrees so it’s perpendicular to the pipe. Locating all of your appliance shut off valves is important in case you need to use them in a hurry. If you don’t find a valve, you may not have any installed. A good gas safe plumber will help confirm that and will install suitable valves to give you that all-important control over your gas flow. Getting help with your gas and heatingBased in the West Midlands, we are an independent plumbers merchant and national distributor of quality Plumbing, Bathroom, Heating and Plastic products. Since these things can leak like crazy and cause tremendous damage, I’m replacing it with a standard supply stop as soon as I’m done with this story. When my full time/long time fire investigator was still alive. I asked him Why do the RV bottles blow up or explode? His answer was no matter if the valve is open/closed IF a fire is burning nearby the heat can and will cause the bottle/tank to vent. Venting propane causes, you guessed it more fire.
