Gammon is the cured, smoked or unsmoked hind leg of pork. It is cut from the same area as ham or bacon rashers but sold as a large uncooked joint. Is Gammon the Same as Ham? Just a few suggestions, then there are the leftovers that you can use in sandwiches and salads for a few days after. As long as the leftover ham is stored in an airtight container in the fridge, it will be good for 3 days. Another bonus to gammon is just how cheap it is, for a few pounds you can have a few meal’s worth of delicious gammon. Your slow cooker can help you reheat the ham. By the end of the cooking time, the peas should be completely softened and the gammon fall-apart tender. You could still cook this slow cooker recipe and use the honey and mustard glaze from that recipe to roast after. Ingredients It feels special enough to have instead of a Sunday roast or on a special occasion, but it’s so easy I know I’m not going to be slaving over a cooker for hours. In fact, it really is so easy, it’s perfect for children and beginner cooks. Using a sharp knife, score a criss-cross pattern in the ham fat, cutting lines about 2.5cm/1in deep and 2cm/¾ in apart.

Lightly score the ham fat with a knife in a crisscross pattern. Line a small roasting tin with a piece of foil, large enough to come up the sides of the tin. Place the ham on top, fat-side up. If the ham is thinner one end than the other, prop the short end up with a wodge of crumpled kitchen foil, so the fat is more horizontal – this will help it brown more evenly. In a pinch? You can also microwave leftover ham. Add some liquid (ginger ale, broth, water, etc.) to a covered, microwave-safe container and zap until steaming and heated through. Cut the carrot into large even chunks and place on the base of the slow cooker before adding the gammon on top. You can either serve the gammon straight from the slow cooker or add a glaze and cook it in an oven for about 5-10 minutes. Any longer than that your gammon will dry out. I tend to always glaze my ham but if you're making this recipe for a regular weeknight meal go then you can skip it, but it really is worth it! Gently melt the honey and butter in a small pan and add in the chopped rosemary. Remove the lid, lift the pork out of the slow cooker and onto a board, and leave it to stand for 10 minutes, or until cool enough to handle.
