About this deal

First let’s take a look at why Lanoguard works. It’s produced by us in the UK from a lanolin (wool-grease) base. Lanolin gives our products some unique properties which make them ideal for waterproofing (it’s got to keep the sheep dry after all!) and also allows them to work on already rusted/rusting surfaces without a prepared keyed surface.

In June 2020 I discovered alot of surface rust on the subframes of the car. Using other brands I would underseal over the top of hammerite I hoped it would preserve the car. I found the lasted 3 to 9 months just meaning I needed completely do the car again.

Any tests on youtube is done on clean metal which is not like trying to attach to a rusty surface and I think most people using these products are trying to make a rusty vehicle last longer rather than putting on new cars. Versatility: Lanolin-based greases can be used on various metal surfaces, making them versatile for protecting different parts of a vehicle. They can be applied to areas prone to rust, such as undercarriages, chassis, wheel wells, hinges, and exposed metal components. Additionally, lanolin-based greases can be used in combination with other rust protection measures, such as coatings or films, to provide additional layers of defense against corrosion. If heating LanoShield please be aware that it can get very hot so precautions should be taken. Though the product is non-hazardous it can be hard to get off so we recommend using protective gloves Waterproof and great for protecting electrical fittings including circuit boards, switch panels etc. I always thought it was easly washed off as never relly noticed it protecting anything even though reapplied every 8 to 9 months. All areas on my car got worse.

Without the natural properties that lanolin has (bonding to metals and hermetically sealing without the need for a keyed surface) a rust-proofing product starts at a disadvantage. It is typically the case that conventional products cannot be sprayed onto existing rust because they don’t work to push off the rust and seep into the metal below. Without the hermetic seal, it’s also far easier for a coating of any product to easily wash off and not last. First time using this product so was interested to see how it worked. Previously used Waxoyl to reasonable effect but this can be difficult to apply unless using the aerosol version. For larger areas like bulk heads either use our spray or simply a larger brush but as you only need a thin coating spread thinly. Please note that if you prefer a thinner grease i.e. more like a gloss paint consistency LanoShield can be heated up by placing the jar in a microwave for 30 seconds on full power Fishing equipment

Dont waste your time with this stuff your just as well spraying any other type of wax/oil on your car as apart from easy application nothing else actually works. LanoShield is a natural, environmentally friendly product that p rovides long lasting protection and lubrication properties to an endless variety of marine, agricultural, commercial, industrial, aquaculture, aviation, construction and many more uses. We were looking for new chemical and electrolytic “nano” coatings which we did not succeed in finding – despite some claims which turned out not to be supported by evidence. We did however find a solution in lanolin – a by-product of processing sheep’s wool for use in finished woollen products. The lanolin is the natural grease that keeps sheep dry and warm here in the harsh British weather and can be put to good use keeping our trailers and other equipment waterproof and resistant to rust and corrosion. I use Bilt Hamber aerosols for in-cavities as it creeps really well into seams and you don't need to clean the spray gun. In summary, I'm impressed, easy to apply, goes a very long way, just got to wait until over this winter to see how it goes.
