Next up we have Echo, aka Maya Lopez, who featured in Hawkeye and will also have her own series on Disney+ in November 2023. Echo is one of the most impressive minifigures in this series with incredible detailing across her entire body.

LEGO Marvel Minifigures Series 2 will have the unfortunate honour of being completely overshadowed by the transition from blind bags to blind boxes, effectively eliminating a tradition that has been in place since 2010. There has been unprecedented interest in the upcoming 71039 Marvel Minifigures Series 2, which is set to be released on 1 September 2023 but has already starting showing up in stores in North America. I am a dedicated “feeler” of the bags and for almost a decade have added “the one” to our child’s home collection and countless friends, neighbours and coworkers kids collections. Removing the helmet reveals a grotesque head underneath, reflecting the animated character. Despite becoming a zombie, Captain America carries his shield, which has sustained damage and omits any silver accents found on the aforementioned accessory. Instead, both this shield and minifigure resemble the examples from 76192 Avengers: Endgame Final Battle, achieving satisfying continuity. Marvel fans will no doubt be happy with the selection, but you’ll likely be left thinking if this was the best LEGO Marvel roster for Series 2.

There could be a way to determine which minifigures are which based on specific batches and combinations, but it hasn’t been uncovered yet, or maybe there’s the potential to do so in future series. How to find one: Try feeling for Vision’s laptop – the 2 x 1 tile your best bet, or the laptop screen, which feels like a 2 x 1 tile with a bulbous spine. Kate Bishop’s outfit is fantastic with the LEGO designers making great use of colours and subtle use of side leg printing and arm printing to enhance the screen-accuracy of her minifigure.

That said, the new She-Hulk is a superb LEGO minifigure and one of the standouts of Series 2. I imagine she’ll be a fairly popular minifigure from this series. Surely there are options out there for Lego to continue to make money on these like selling complete sets for the true collectors out there as well as specific minifigures (limited to a number per person), and for others interests, then the traditional boxes in retail stores for people to hope for the best from. There are some bright spots, such as the high level of printing quality, and minifigure design which seems to have been elevated, and of course the sensational Moon Knight, which might be one of the finest LEGO minifigures that LEGO have ever made. All in all, Goliath is a decent minifigure, but it feels quite out of place in this series, especially with Season 2’s release date up in the air, and only likely to arrive in 2024, making it quite hard to connect with Goliath.LEGO produces few colours approaching white, unlike others which are available in numerous shades. Vision therefore presents challenges because the onscreen character is almost wholly white, but features intricate texture. The designer has therefore employed light bluish grey which contrasts against this white decoration, differing noticeably from the source material but creating an attractive effect. Here’s Moon Knight and Mr. Knight together and they look great as a pair. I do think iy would’ve been way better if we had Scarlet Scarab included as well with how prominent she was in the TV series, and how cool her character design is. If you’ve been following my blog, you’ll know that my positition on this has been clear, I do not support the switch to pure blind boxes, as it encourages gambling, and the uncertainty of what you will get, something that most people can’t afford to do. LEGO could’ve easily included some hidden code or symbol on each box to identify what’s inside, but their unwillingness to do so just reeks of not listening to longtime fans and punishing Minifigure fans.
