Description

The Auric Flamekeeper is joined by five Auric Hearthguard and five Hearthguard Berzerkers – 10 models in total who can be built either way – as well as 10 Vulkite Berzerkers . But the god Teclis found a troubling darkness in the heart of these new elves and nearly destroyed them. Fearing his anger and the anguish in their own ravaged souls, these firstborn elves fled into the depths of the ocean. Here they made a horrifying discovery: almost every child born would wither and die unless its soul was reinforced with soulstuff stolen from another mortal. The Namarti of the Idoneth Deepkin are those aelves among the Idoneth Deepkin found to have withering souls, it is the Isharann Soulscryers who can discern and label what unfortunate aelves are born with this affliction. Without a new soul Namarti will not live past infancy and even those granted precious souls are destined to live a short life where they are little more than second-class citizens within the Enclaves. Most Namarti can hope to only live three or four decades, a meager and short life to the aelven mindset. [1a] [4] Hit your peak on the turn you want –Rituals have been changed to now be a once a game ability used on a specific turn of the game, allowing you to put all your energy into the turn you want to dominate in. player, 5-round Grand Tournament in Del Mar, CA, US on October 21 2023. In stark contrast to their predecessors, the Namarti Reavers are a bit more fiddly to assemble, in spite of being made up of far fewer components. Each model has a variant build as well, holding their bow and something in their other hand in a slightly different angle, so you’ve lots of freedom to make these figures look just how you want. We do have some questions on Hunters of Souls, which will surely require an FAQ is if the wounds will spill over if the champion dies. We haven’t encountered an ability like this, and my gut instinct says no, as it says it’s only targetting the champion. Further, how does this work on units that are tankier, like say Blightkings where the champion can easily tank the hit. Now they potentially have 2 models with wounds allocated, where do they go now? Not sure this was well considered. Only the Akhelian Leviadon here, of course. Despite getting an update in Broken Realms: Morathi which made them competitively viable, they got a small update here. Their weapons are more impressive, the ranged Harpoon Launchers now doing D3 instead of just 1 and the melee Harpoons getting some rend. The Crushing Charge unfortunately now just augments Stomp, instead of being a seperate action. This presents an issue if you’re playing Nautilar, as you have to choose between the -3 rend Monstrous action or the Mortals instead of both but since they become Battleline you’ll probably have 2 or 3. player, 5-round Grand Tournament in England, GB on October 21 2023. Matt Nguyen – Darkwalkers: It’s the standard pairing of Ungor Raiders and 9 Bullgor, but with no Be’lakor – instead there’s 12 foot Enlightened and 3 cheeky Slaangor It’s impossible to say what a new tome will bring and when that will even happen, so in the meantime we have these changes with old rules. Idoneth Deepkin Warscrolls

As has become the standard in newer books, there’s an attempt to pare down the number traits and artefacts in the book to replace quantity with quality. There are still an impressive number here, with 3 for 3 different types of heroes: Akhelians, Isharanns and Eidolons.

I think the Vulkite Berserkers might be my favourite kit in the Fry of the Deep box. These models are not only astoundingly easy to put together, but they’re designed in such a way to ensure you have maximum freedom over how you put them together. This new faction of aelves for Warhammer Age of Sigmar are arriving with a splash, bringing a brand new battletome to the game, along with a host of new Citadel miniatures and accessories.

The story of these aelves is a tragic one. Teclis formed the Idoneth from souls prised from the belly of Slaanesh, but their corrupted spirits didn’t live up to the Archmage’s dreams. Unable to adjust to their new lives, the Idoneth fled from the powerful gaze of the god of magic, hiding in the inky depths of the seas. The Idoneth Battletome contains rules for six different Enclaves, each of which has a unique faction rule, and a mixture of relics, command traits, and spells. But by far the most important factor for the Idoneth are their Battle Traits.

The Best of the Rest

And, of course, we’re basing the value of the box solely on the models inside it, discounting the Warscroll Cards, the Campaign Book, the Core Rules (which I’ve found to be an exceptionally useful resource) and the tokens which would only further increase the overall value of the box.
