About this deal

Novitiates flame weapons come with a special weapon trait unique to their team. If a player retains a critical hit with a weapon that has the Inferno X trait the target gains an a number of Inferno tokens equal to the X value. At the end of the Turning Point roll a D6 for each Inferno token, on a 4+ the target receives 1 Mortal Wound, and the token is removed regardless of the result.

Novitiates come with a strong set of useful equipment, so strong in fact, that one item in particular was so good that it amounted to a team-wide reroll 1s to hit ability. This item had its cost doubled in a balance data-slate, but is that enough to give the rest of the inventory a chance to shine? I think the flexibility of Novitiates will see them doing well in a competitive setting, and a smart tournament player has so many tools to use to win. I look forward to seeing them hit the tables.

Novitate Sororitas Kill Teams

Reliquarius (I'm not sure why she has the best banner in the game(This is what I've heard other players say) why is shooting on a 4+ when a operative dies near her so good if it's kinda swingy and what operatives are best to keep near her to get a good use out of this) Acts of Faith work like CP, with their own little list of ploys that they can be spent on. You get three at the start of each turn, and can save them, but in a four turn game you get twelve points to spend. However there are ways to boost the number of faith points you have, through the Pronatus or the Glorious Martyrdom tactical ploy or some of the equipment choices. Allows the operative re-roll hit rolls of 1, and if the re-roll is also a one you take a mortal wound. In the past these were 1 EP and were frankly, broken as hell, now you can only equip half your team with them, which still makes it exceptionally powerful. These are basically an auto-include for your Superior and at least one Purgatus operative. A Faith points are a great source of additional plots for Novitiates, and can be used to swing critical combats or defence rolls to either win or keep your models alive. Tac Ops Frag Grenade (2 EP)– Good if you’re facing a horde team with Gaunts or guard equivalents, but not great against anything like marines. Normal advice regarding Frag grenades applies, and they’re 2EP for Novitiates as they are for everyone else.

In an ideal world the game would be perfectly balanced if every faction had a 50% win rate, but in practice this is very difficult to achieve. Therefore we aim for every faction’s win rate to sit between 45-55%. CAVE: This is the second model where we will do a little kit-bashing to assemble our Novitiate Pronatus. For that we use the body, legs and face from the Novitiate Duelist from assembly step #23 and the arms from the Novitiate Pronatus in assembly step #25(c). Build the body as described under number 23 in the manual and simply add the arms of the Pronatus. I recommend gluing the right arm (D26) onto the body before you glue the goblet onto the arm. Don’t forget to dry-fit – but everything should work out fine.A good model to take and unlike the Penitent fire team in the Compendium, it isn’t tactically limiting like having half your kill team with no guns is. Novitiate Pronatus Another interesting mix, with two Talons of the Emperor teams, Void Dancers, Intercessors, Legionnaires, Navy Breachers, and two Blooded teams. Again, a healthy mix that offers more variety.

The militants, being your standard non-specialist, can be taken up to nine times, while the Purgatus may be taken twice. All other specialists are restricted to once per Kill Team. Abilities Acts of Faith The other Comms specialist, she is able to grant 1 APL to friendlies at the normal ⬟ unlike the Exactor, while also coming with Auto-broadcaster (1 AP) ability that allows her to drop a token within ⬟ that reduces the Ballistic Skill of enemy operatives within ⬤ of it by 1. This later ability is rather difficult to use properly simply due to its limited range from the Dialogus, and the area affected. It is best used in a situation where you expect an opponent will move within ⬟ of another operative to employ a weapon of limited ranged such as a Meltagun or Grenade. Novitiate Duellist Every Turning Point Novitiate teams gain 3 faith points to use on Acts Of Faith (AoF). Only one Act of Faith may be used per activation (friendly or enemy) with the exception of a few of them.As usual, if I skip a number in the instruction manual, it means I haven’t built the model / I skipped the assembly step. I recommend planning ahead which models / variants you want to build. To help you decide which operatives to build, think about the purpose of the Kill Team (casual or competitive), your gaming environment (official or unofficial) and how / which factions the people in your local area usually play. Another good advice is to prepare all parts of each model properly and dry-fitting parts before gluing. The list I recommend needs some kit-bashing, but only simple kit-bashing and without Greenstuff or anything else and I’ll explicitly say so in the description. I hope you enjoy the ride, let’s go. Divine Shield (2 Faith Points) – The defensive version of Guiding Light. Retain a failed save as a normal save. From a purely mathematical perspective this is more useful than its offensive counterpart. The defense die pools of your average operative is automatically smaller than the die pools of your average ranged weapon as are the odds of success on individual die. Being able to automatically pass a save to prevent an operative from dying can swing a game.

Let’s start off by saying that there’s no doubt in the best possible Loadout for the Sister Superior – it’s Plasma Pistol and Power Weapon (as it’s the best choice with every other faction leader that has those options available). Those deal the most damage and come with the best special rules. Also, the Power Sword gives us the option to possibly use the Superior in melee combat. Novitiates have 2APL, Save 4+ and seven wounds. This means they don’t last long out of cover and don’t last long in combat despite having a really good close combat weapon on a standard human model. The Novitiate Superior is ably supported by a number of specialist squadmates who really could only find a place on the battlefields of the 41st Millennium. Take the Novitiate Exactor, the only “covert operative” in history to dual-wield neural whips.Command Point Hungry – Even with Acts of Faith the Novitiates have a number of very important ploys that are needed to truly bring out their best, and can easily run dry at key moments if mismanaged. Healing – Both a medic model and an Act of Faith that can heal injured models means you’re a bit more resilient than you look. Imperial Navy Breachers – Prepare to be outnumbered by operatives who are also equipped with a similar combination of close combat ranged weapons, and have armor that grants them re-rolls against some of your more effective weapons. Don’t be too aggressive early as over extending could set you up for a Breach and Clear that leaves you at a significant operative deficit. F If you’re used to the GW model of “battle box” releases, you’ll know that they ordinarily try and add some kind of light fluff or gaming content to them, and that it’s often not very good. Maybe there’s some datasheets so you can technically play the game with just the models in the box, maybe there’s one or two narrative missions someone dashed off in a lunch break. Who knows – chances are you never even opened the pamphlet except to find out the stats for your new guy that aren’t in a Codex yet. Secure Vantage – A wildly swingy Tac Op as terrain placement can make it impossible. It is also worth noting that Novitiates don’t come with the ability to Fly or access any equipment such as Climbing Ropes that can make it easier for operatives to get on top of vantage points. If you have to use this Tac Op ensure you have your Pronatus on hand. D to C depending on vantage point presence
