About this deal

A wheel wax is a wax designed to clean and protect the wheels on your vehicle. The wheels are among the dirtiest and filthiest part of your vehicle. It requires regular cleaning to easily remove accumulated brake dust and road grime with minimal effort. I would test out varying dilution ratios of Imperial. I might try 1 part Imperial to 10 parts water. This should be really quite weak and at a pH that won't strip or rapidly degrade the sealant. I am using it at 1 part Imperial to 3 parts water, but that is for more neglected wheels. This would most likely degrade the sealant, although I don't work with Poorboy's Wheel Sealant anymore and use 22PLE Rim & Metal Coat, so this is just an informed guess. If you care about your alloy wheels and want them to look great, the simple answer is ‘Yes’. However, as with most aspects of vehicle detailing there are many other options available. Protecting your wheels has to be one of the key reasons for using any wheel wax or sealant, others being visual enhancement & ease of cleaning in the future. This wheel sealant from Poorboys (PB) is easy to apply (using a foam applicator), it’s simple to see what parts have been covered (due to its bright pink colour), it buffs off well and produces a wonderful shine & smells great. For best results a do a full clean/clay/polish, then finish using the sealant. Many of the wheel waxes can be layered for additional longevity of the product. The Poorboys World wheel sealant even recommend that you do this to increase the durability of the product. Most wheel waxes can last approximately 6 months but many premium examples can last far longer. Conclusion The PoorBoy’s formula is the best wheel sealant on the market that also offers great value for the money. For the best results, we recommend using separate microfibre cloths to wipe on and wipe off the sealant.

This will require a dedicated wheel cleaner, wheel woolies and a wheel wash mitt.A clean surface is paramount to getting the best result from your wheel wax or sealant. Step 2:Apply a small amount of wheel wax using a pad Each product was applied to the maker’s instructions, before we used a hose to judge how well they beaded water off the wheel. Many people may use a protective car wax on their wheels as a form of protection but it will not be as effective as a wheel sealant. Unlike the paintwork, the wheels are subject to brake dust and generally more dirt and debris, which needs a stronger wax. By far one of the most expensive wheel sealants (per ml) in this article is the Gtechniq C5 Armour, which is designed for maximum protection. The formula makes use of fine surface rheology and chemical bonding to produce an ultra durable barrier that provides up to 2 years of protection. Not all of them are made the same, so I’ve tested a variety of wheel waxes to come up with a winner. The Swissvax Autobahn might be costlier than the other products I tested, but you get your money’s worth in terms of shine, protection, and ease of application.

Long lasting wheel protection. Like any good auto enthusiast, you wouldn't dream of leaving your paint unprotected, but what about your wheels? Just like your paint, your wheels need protection. For excellent defense against brake dust and corrosion, apply a coat of Poorboy’s Wheel Sealant to any kind of wheel. The RimWax provides the best wheel wax for shine and still provides great protection. However, it is fairly pricey considering both the Poorboy’s World and Chemical Guys alternative is far cheaper. For those that use performance brake pads that produce heat and a lot of dust, this wheel wax is perfect. The resistance to heat and claim of 75% reduction in brake dust can save you a lot of time cleaning your wheels.Second was the Mer. A former Best Buy, it was also easy to use, and repelled water well into our four-week test, albeit slower than Collinite.
