About this deal

Ultimately, the Storm Commandos were created in response to the effectiveness of guerrilla tactics used by the Rebel Alliance. As such, they were trained to make use of the tactics and use them against Rebel forces. When formed, their ranks consisted of only the best and finest members of the Stormtrooper Corps. The aim of the unit meant that they were experts in guerrilla tactics and had a reputation for ferociousness in combat that exceeded those of other divisions of stormtroopers, and were often used to put down insurrections or revolutions near Rebel hotbeds. Storm commandos were trained especially for counter-insurgency missions with a priority placed on Rebel targets and were often involved in missions such as siege breaking, sabotage, extractions and even in Base Delta Zero operations against hard targets. [7] Other missions involved causing uprisings on target systems against governments that were hostile to the Empire. In addition, they also were used against uprisings that were within Imperial control. [6] To further their skills, each commando was an expert pilot and was quite capable in operating vehicles. [6] Incinerator Troopers are outfitted with flamethrowers and heat-resistant armor. They are distinguished by their red pauldrons and the red markings on their armor. They are likely an improved variant of the flametroopers. An Incinerator trooper is seen in the season one finale of The Mandalorian (2019).

In early drafts of the original Star Wars film [a] as well as designs by conceptual artist Ralph McQuarrie, stormtroopers wield lightsabers and handheld shields as common weapons, as opposed to the former being mainly limited to the Jedi and Sith factions. While outlining his franchise in 1977, George Lucas said there were numerous female stormtroopers in some units, but few were stationed on the Death Star. [1] [2] Performers [ edit ] Jumptroopers". Artillery Stormtroopers, also known as mortar stormtroopers, are outfitted with mortars and heavy armor. They are distinguished by their yellow pauldrons and the yellow markings on their armor, similar to the markings of the Incinerator Troopers. Shoretroopers, also known as coastal defender stormtroopers, are introduced in Rogue One, where they are seen patrolling the beaches and bunkers of Scarif. They are described as uncommon stormtrooper specialists trained for combat in coastal environments on tropical worlds. Their armor is flexible and lightweight, designed to withstand corrosive aquatic environments and repel excess moisture, and can be modified to operate underwater. Shoretroopers are generally of sergeant rank or higher and command squads of other stormtroopers during instances of seaside combat. [38] [47] [48] Shoretroopers returned in " Chapter 15: The Believer" of The Mandalorian, in which they serve in an Imperial remnant stationed at a mining facility on Morak. [49] [50] as well as appearing in Episode 7 of Andor on the planet Niamos When the outer mask is removed it makes a hissing sound. Whereas when it is sealed, it makes a thunk. The helmet also makes Darth Vader’s iconic breathing sounds.

Inquisitor Valin Draco enlisted the shadow troopers for his own cause, reasoning that if they were good enough to guard Palpatine's storehouses, they were good enough to guard him. [2] In circa 17 BBY, [6] he took a small detachment of the troops to the Almas Academy, where he searched for Darth Rivan's holocron. Within the academy, he and his guard were confronted and defeated by a group of Alderaanian Resistance agents working for the fugitive Jedi Master Denia. [2] Megablaster heavy assault troopers, more commonly known as heavy troopers, are introduced in The Force Awakens. These carriers would be under their direct command and control. [3] In addition, in certain special forces operations, they made use of Imperial Troop Drop Pods. Boba Fett sure is a popular character, as are his helmets. Another version was released in 2021. This design was styled after his helmet in The Mandalorian series. It includes the iconic weathering and beat-up look on the outside, along with a large dent on the left-hand side.

In addition to their standard gear, storm commandos who were part of the assault section carried concussion grenades and a heavy weapon, the latter of which depended on the commando's choice and mission parameters. For example, in operations which required speed, a single-trooper light repeating blaster or grenade launcher allowed for a measure of firepower and mobility. For members of the saboteur team, their extra gear were satchels of detonite, (usually three for every other trooper) and occasionally thermal detonators and thermal wells. Tech team members carried sophisticated communication gear, tool kits, and computer probes in addition to their normal weaponry. The plates could also alter the walk of a clone trooper, disguising the "clone gait" that was familiar to some. A jaw switch was installed in the armor, in case a shadow trooper's identity was discovered. Activating the switch would disengage all magseals and allow the trooper to regain full use of his Phase II armor. As a further modification, the Phase II armor was covered with a sensor reflective material, which absorbed active scans. It was also protected from passive scans by thermal dampers and electro-magnetic hardening. [1] The visor of the helmet gave off a red glow, which, in conjunction with their dark appearance, was considered intimidating by some. [2] Some shadow troopers would wear kamas and pauldrons. [7] During the Clone Wars, Director Armand Isard of Republic Intelligence developed the shadow trooper division, which was created to serve as a reconnaissance tool. Their formation was designed to combat the dwindling numbers of Advanced Recon Commandos, but they could operate in a far more covert manner than that of the commandos. The shadow troopers were given highly modified and highly expensive armor that suited their roles better than the standard fatigues. [1] Imperial combat assault tank commanders". StarWars.com. These commando forces were created with the intention of performing specific tasks that regular soldiers were incapable of accomplishing. [4] As such, they were considered an elite unit within the Imperial Military and operated within small forces with an emphasis on stealth as well as covert operations over brute force. Storm Commandos were trained to perform covert assaults, precision strikes, and sabotage operations against enemy forces. They were typically deployed into squads that consisted between three to six commandos. They were normally deployed on operations against enemy leaders ranging from capture missions as well as destroying any important facilities used by their foes. [5] They were even known to take part in assassination missions against a target. [6]Special Commando Advanced Recon Troopers, or SCAR troopers, are an elite class of stormtroopers in the Imperial Special Forces division. Most of these stormtroopers are unique in terms of armor design, equipment, and specialization, and are deployed in small groups by the Empire, to complete tasks that require their talents. One notable SCAR trooper squad is Task Force 99, featured in the 2016 Star Wars comic book series. Star Wars Legends media such as games and comics feature a number of specialized stormtrooper units. The Marvel-produced comics of the late 1970s and early 1980s featured Shadow Troopers. Other specialists have included commandos and troopers equipped to work in the vacuum of outer space, such as the zero gravity Spacetroopers depicted engaging in extra vehicular battle in the 1991 novel Star Wars: Heir to the Empire, and its 1995 Dark Horse Comics adaptation.
