Simeticone works by bringing together the small gas bubbles in your gut to form bigger bubbles. The wind can then leave your body more easily (by burping or farting).
Antacids should preferably not be taken at the same time of day as any other medicines. In general, any interactions can be avoided if you don't take Setlers antacid tablets in the two hours before and after taking any other medicine. This includes indigestion caused by over-indulging in food or drink, heartburn in pregnancy and nervous indigestion. If used regularly for long periods of time there may also be a rebound increase in the amount of stomach acid produced after you stop taking the tablets.
If used regularly for long periods of time there may be an increase in the level of calcium in the blood (hypercalcaemia).
Wind-eze chewable tablets and gel capsule both contain the active ingredient simeticone, which is an 'anti-foaming agent'.
This is a medicine; Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have an underlying medical condition, are taking any other medication or complementary therapy, or if symptoms persist. Each Capsules contains simeticone 100mg, Also contains sodium ethyl parahydroxybenzoate (E215), sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoate (E217), Capsule Shell: Gelatin, Glycerin, Colour (E142), Quinoline Yellow (E104), Titanium Dioxide (E171), Sodium Ethyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E215), Sodium Propyl Parahydroxybenzoate (E217), Purified Water avoid or cut down on foods that may cause bloating such as onions, cabbage, sprouts, turnips or beans and lentils (pulses)
