Assuming the timber stairs are clean, dry, sound and prepared as detailed in the Technical data sheet we can recommend one coat of Teamac Metaclor Antifouling Primer followed by 3 coats of Teamac Chlorvar Chlorinated Rubber Paint.The first coat primes and seals the surface, providing a base for the topcoat. The topcoat completes the sealing process while providing additional moisture resistance and protection. This paint is ideally suited to exterior buildings with timber and metal cladding. We would advise priming the clean melamine surface with a coat of Zinsser B-I-N first followed by 2 coats of Zinsser Perma-White Interior. This will give much better adhesion. Zinsser PermaWhite Mould Resisting Paint is available in matt (and satin). It is available in white, or mixed to any colour to enhance the decor of any room. Soluble in the following materials: cold water and hot water. Very slightly soluble in the following materials: methanol and acetone. Zinsser Perma-White Interior will bond to existing paints, either solvent-based or glossy paints. It will even bond to ceramic tiling and Formica without sanding. The paint contains a biocide that serveas a protective shield against fungal degradation. Due to these protective properties against mould and mildew and as a moisture resistant paint, Zinsser Perma-White paint is ideally suited for areas with persistent humidity and poor air circulation, such as bathrooms, basements or laundry rooms.
