Moving around a lot, exercising didn’t seem to cause the connection to drop either, which can be common with some Bluetooth connections.

Having an adjustable and folding design, we wanted to see how robust and adjustable it actually was. The plastic isn’t the strongest quality we’ve come across, so we had some anxiety about adjusting the headband too much and potentially snapping it. When the Bluetooth icon on the mobile phone indicates that the battery is low ,please charge the headphone as soon as possible I have now increased the star rating to 4 stars and it would definitely be 5 stars if the design were such that the batteries could be changed by the customer in, say, 4 or 5 years time if necessary. It seems sad that so many products we buy are destined for landfill when improved design to give them a much longer life. The drivers in these models are smaller than before at 30mm, but the soundstage remains spacious and gives all elements of a mix room to breathe and shine. We were happy to find that there’s very little sound leakage, too, even when you’re listening to loud music. We sat next to a colleague in the office with the volume at full, and they didn't hear anything – that's an improvement over the previous model.Overall we were impressed with the comfort and fit. The big pads and the easily adjustable headband created an enjoyable wearing experience. They were secure enough on the head for us to recommend them for exercising on the go. With such fantastic sound on offer here, the Bose headphones are a serious alternative to the Sony XM4s at the top of our list. We highly rate their vibrant, lively character and well-balanced soundstage – they can convey bubbling bass, rich vocals and complex drum beats all clearly and individually in one soundstage. Their predecessors, the Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones, are at the top of our list because we think the specs and the price will suit anyone looking for a high-end pair of headphones. But the XM5s do offer a more lightweight wireless design, new drivers for improved sound, a whole array of microphones for better call quality and super-fast charging. There's also beefier processing for the noise cancellation, which was already superb and is the best you can get at the time of writing. If you’re looking for the most powerful noise-cancelling headphones money can buy, you won’t be disappointed. I think my conclusion is that the battery is not really intended to be replaced and once it fails the headphones have come to the end of their life........seems like built-in obsolescence and this does not impress me. If the battery were intended to be replaced, surely instructions would be totally clear about this.Sony continues to reign with these older cans, which remain fantastic value for sound quality, features and noise cancellation thanks to price drops. Although the fit felt great for casual listening in the house, we tested it further to see if they still felt comfortable and tight enough whilst running with them. The headphones never fell or slid off once when moving around quite a lot with them on. The comfort was also still excellent when doing a short running session. There’s a built-in microphone which isn’t great, but that’s fairly common with budget headphones. We found that it didn’t produce a clear enough sound for having conversations outside. We think that part of the problem is the design of the microphone being so far away from your mouth.
