About this deal

Touch Screen - Though the CR-6 max does not have a unibody design like the CR-10 Max, it does have a modern touch screen This article focuses on Creality’s FDM 3D printers; if you are interested in 3D printing with resin, you’ll want to refer to our overview of Creality’s resin 3D printers. If you aren’t sure what the difference is between these technologies, read our Filament vs. Resin article to get an overview and learn which one is a better fit for you. Both come with well-guided instructions and it’s a case of attaching the gantry and plugging in a few cables. The Ender 5 Pro is arguably a tad more challenging due to the design of the printer, but we’re talking an extra few minutes for most people so hardly a major difference.

Aside from a 5°C bump on the Ender 5 Pro nozzle temperature, the two printers are identical. Both are suited to the most common 3D printing materials – PLA, ABS (enclosure required for the best results as ABS requires a stable thermal environment), TPU, and PETG. We have an article here with more details about the use of the configuration.h file. Testing the Firmware Settings #The Ender 5 Pro is ever so slightly more suited to more temperature-sensitive materials like nylon that require hotter nozzle temperature to print well. The SD card that comes with the Ender-5 Pro includes Creality Slicer 4.2, the company's own 3D printing software. The app is very similar to Cura, the open-source software now managed by Ultimaker which is included with the majority of 3D printers we test. In preparing files for printing, I mostly used Creality Slicer, though I processed a couple of files with Cura (using the latter's settings for the Ender-5, as the Pro isn't yet included in Cura's pull-down list of printers). Both programs are easy to use, and the basic process is the same. Cloud Storage Note: Extract to a folder that is NOT in a “cloud” storage folder. Many users have reported issues using the firmware when the folder is in a cloud storage folder. I got a BL Touch sensor (also from Creality) but haven't installed it yet. I'm still happy with the manual levelling. Except the first days, when I did not level it correctly, once I did level it as it should, I only had to re-level it only one time. Search thingiverse for a test 3d model for the bed leveling and print that. You will now instantly where you need to do adjustments.

The printer has nearly a dozen cables that power and control the motors, extruder, and end stops, and they have to be attached to the proper connectors. Creality does well in labeling both the cables and connectors. Most of the components are at the top of the printer with the motherboard and power supply are at the bottom, so you must take care to keep the long cables out of the way (mostly at the rear or on the side). The printer comes with zip ties for this purpose. On the bottom front of the machine, the USB and TF Card slots let you comfortably connect the device to an external computer as well as independently operate it via a TF card. The printer settings and the printing status can be controlled via a 45°-tilted LCD screen. Originally I wanted something smaller, like the Ender 3. I went for Ender 5 because of the frame structure and because the bed is only moved down while printing and the head does all the movement necessary for printing.Similar to the Creality K1, the K1 Max includes some control features that you won’t find on most of Creality’s other 3D printers. The Creality Cloud integration allows you to control your printer over Wi-Fi or the Internet, meaning you can load files onto the printer over the network, rather than needing to plug it directly into your computer or transfer the files with a SD card. You do also have the option of plugging in a USB flash drive with gcode files and printing using the touchscreen controller. In terms of firmware, the K1 Max runs a modified version of Klipper, which is a high-performance 3D printer firmware popular with the 3D printing community. Klipper allows the K1 Max to print at high speeds without reducing print quality. There are many other options in the firmware for setting up upgrades, tuning, and other features. Read through the files configuration section to see all the features we’ve put in the firmware for you.

Watch our video that is intended to clear up common mistakes people make when opening and using the firmware here: Unified 2 VSCode Tips for Noobs | EZTip #8 – YouTube If you’re new to 3D printing, the Ender 3 V2 cuts down that initial learning curve a few pegs but keeps the core Ender 3 spirit of tinkering and upgrading to get the very best out of the machine. It’s an iconic printer refined, adding even more value to an already affordable machine. Ender 5 Pro Ender 5 Pro Specs In 2022, Creality released the even more premium Ender 3 S1 Pro, which adds a touch screen and an all-metal hot-end, which allows you to print a wider variety of materials such as nylon, and improves the reliability of the hotend. After calibrating the extruder, it’s also important to calibrate the axes of the printer. Calibrating the axes is similar to calibrating the extruder, but requires that you actually print something. The open material system allows for printing with third-party filaments, while the open-source hardware leaves room for lots of upgrades and mods. If extruder and nozzle temperature are top of your list of requirements, it may be worth taking a peek at Creality’s new Ender 3 S1 Pro. With a nozzle that can reach temperatures up to 300°, the Ender 3 S1 Pro is equipped to print a broader range of materials – PLA, ABSE, PETG, Nylon, TPU, Wood fill, and numerous other high-temperature filament types.

If the build succeeds it is ready for you to upload to your printer. You will know if it was successfully built because it will show a SUCCESS in green at the bottom of the window in Visual Studio Code. Example of what a successful compile looks like. Your environment name may be different from what is shown above. The design and features of the Creality K1 Max put it in a different class than most of Creality’s other 3D printers, and this will definitely feel like a more modern machine. Of course, its price matches the premium feature set, making it one of the more expensive printers from Creality. If you’re open to a more hands-on 3D printing experience and don’t mind printing more slowly, a machine such as the Ender 3 S1 Plus offers a similar build volume and print quality at a much lower price. But if you want the most capable printer in this size class with the most advanced feature set, the Creality K1 Max is the right choice. The Creality K1 Max is Creality’s highest-end printer in this size class, with the same 300 x 300 x 300 mm (12” x 12” x 12”) build volume as the other options, but an advanced feature set that goes beyond what the other printers offer. It has an enclosed design and uses a CoreXY motion system to allow for higher print speeds. Along with the Sprite direct drive extruder, this makes the Creality K1 Max capable of printing at up to 600 mm/s. Brims and rafts print an area of filament on the outside or under the print object. This increases the surface and adhesion. However, these two options are only necessary for extreme cases and have the disadvantage that you have to remove this auxiliary construction from the print object after printing. I am new at 3D printing. I new nothing about this when I decided to buy a printer. I searched the internet, I read about the different brands and then I found that the most popular printers are Creality and Prusa. Not knowing anything, I was inclined to choose the Prusa. A friend who already owns both printers, told me I would not regret buying a Creality. And boy was he right.
