About this deal

The menu system shows how outdated Sky's system is now. The EPG is a revelation with high-resolution graphics and icons and as it's overlaid you can carry on watching a show whilst navigating the EPG. C4HD is not added to the EPG in freesat mode. You use the CF 'channel editor' plugin to make C4HD visible in freesat mode. Then you need to set recordings on C4 SD; then edit the reservation to point to the C4HD version and then make it a daily/weekly/ timed recording. No series linking or accurate time recording. Of course, the Humax Foxsat-HDR isn't flawless. The 320GB hard-disk is now beaten for recording capacity by some rivals, and it's also one of the pricier models around (although the 'official' price can be usefully shaved down if you shop around). WARNING: Please note that once you perform Factory Reset, all data such as the antenna setting information, channel list and all user configured data will be deleted. Also I forgot to mention above would you know why channel names are not shown properly. For non-freesat channels I understand it shows 5000+ number but even for Freesat channels it appears to show channel number not name apart from ITV when I go into library. So as a PVR you get to do all the cool things with live TV – pause and rewind within limits, so if you need to answer the phone you can simply pause. If you need to go out to the shops, you might just choose to start recording instead. You also get to change various settings allowing you plenty of control over your recording options. With a reasonably large 320GB of memory, Humax cite 80 hours of HD content or 200 hours of SD content, but the likelihood is that you’ll have a bit of both, with a tendency to hang on to the HD content for longer, because, hey, it’s high definition. There are two choices: you simply switch into non-Freesat mode or, if you're a bit braver, flash the HDR firmware with the Radyon (think that'show it's spelled) firmware. There are posts here about the scond course if you want to persue it. We were excited by the inclusion of BBC HD in the line-up of channels, as this was the first time free-to-air HD programming had been made available in the UK. For further opinions on the Freesat service, see our Humax Foxsat-HD review (What’s New, Shopper 247).I had Twonky4 and Mediatomb was installed but because of these problems I wanted to upgrade to Twonky5 but system wouldn't allow it due to Twonky4 had already t been installed, so I uninstalled Twonky4 and upgraded to Twonky5 I have postulated that it may be possible to install an alternative PSU, but as I have not been afflicted by a fault such as this I have not spent the time that would be necessary to study the problem. I did reboot the Foxsat after flashing the firmware, however I do not get the "Custom Fw v4.1.3" on the display after BOOT. I used version 4.1.3 to flash

When I go in to Media Library I notice that instead of BBC Two HD it shows the channel number next to the file name. I'll try to take a picture when I get home.CF has it's own thread - worth a scan-read through. to get a feel for it. As well as the CF you should install nowster's patch. Under Setup, you can configure the installation settings, perform a Freesat Tune, Manual Tune, update software and restore the receiver to its Factory settings. I don't fully understand how the channel number system works. I used to enter 101 and get BBC1 now in Non freesat mode BBC1 is obtained by typing 5027. That is the proper name for the custom firmware. Pretty sure Raydon always used a rar archive. You can get a free rar opener from the Microsoft app store. Question 4) Why does Foxsat come out of standby and stays on BBC 1 London which is not even on my TV guide, as I have hidden all none HD channels? No idea why it comes on in the afternoon and stays on until I turn it off despite the next recording is not scheduled until in the evening.ITV, however, is a problem. Its broadcast bit-rate is often much lower than the BBC's and it frankly looks dire in standard-definition on Freesat. We haven't seen an ITV HD broadcast yet in the few hours since installing the Foxsat-HDR but previous broadcasts viewed on the non-PVR version were superb. Run VLC and choose local network options, you should find [Foxsat-HDR] Twonky Media. Choose the allvideos option it should then stream any recording. The display means, among other advantages, that the Humax becomes a useful radio tuner (for satellite radio, obviously), because you don't need to have the TV turned on to operate it. Select All or the value in the transponder list and press the OK button. If the required value is not available, select User Define and enter the transponder value directly.
