About this deal

Two years ago, at a Soul Shrink retreat in Gozo, two guests died, and one guest went missing, presumed dead. If you are like me, and prefer a well crafted mystery with clues to follow, and revelations that you can buy into, then this may NOT be the book for you.

Here, the characters are fun to watch. Queen Latifah has that essential quality for a good comedian - she tugs at your heartstrings while the laughter is going on. She is great! LL Cool J is a wonderfully pleasant surprise. Tim Hutton is a good comedy villain: you loathe him - but not too much. (At the end, he seems to experience a change of heart, so I was slightly disappointed at his fate in the Epilogue.) Gerard Depardieu is especially good, and the rest of the cast is fine. My wife and I loved the setting, the cinematography and the fun script. This film made us laugh more than any film in recent memory. It’s an easy, light, summer read with unexpected twists and turns which is perfect for readers who don’t want to get bogged down by the detail of complex characters or ambiguous plot-lines.Determined to find out the truth, Fran books herself onto his upcoming retreat – the first since his release – and finds herself face to face with the man who might hold the key to her sister’s disappearance. The only question is, will she escape the retreat alive? Or does someone out there want Jenna’s secrets to stay hidden? It’s got a good pace. We are told the story from Fran’s point of view in the present and Jenna is in the past at the time of her retreat stay. There’s some input too from Kate in both past and present. She is the organiser of the retreat and secret wife of Tom.

I’m so happy this book put this brilliant author on my radar. I cannot wait to read the lord works of her. Queen Latifah is a natural actress who radiates warmth and honesty in her portrayal of Georgia Byrd. Borrowing from "Nothing Sacred" and "Living it Up," the script emphasizes living life for all its worth and not being afraid to take chances. The story is told in a 'past' timeline from the viewpoint of Gemma, and a 'present' timeline from Fran. Several characters feature in both timelines. Tom, the guru behind the retreat and his controlling wife, Kate, in addition to 3 guests who have attended both retreats. Which, if any, of these characters is behind Gemma missing, presumed dead, status?!My last holiday was five days. I went with my cousin to Cappadocia in Turkey. We stayed at a cave hotel in Gorme village and it was amazing. We had a beautiful view over the all the caves. We did some touristy things too. In the first days we flown with balloon and we could see Cappadocia city. In the second days we went to the Open Museum so we could go inside the caves and to see how people lives at that time. Two years ago, Fran’s sister Jenna disappeared on a wellness retreat in Gozo that went terribly wrong.

Two years ago, Jenna went missing at a wellness retreat run by Tom, the charismatic man behind the Soul Shrink retreats. He has just been released from prison after serving time for the deaths of two individuals who attended the same retreat where Jenna went disappeared. Is Jenna just missing or is she dead? Historically, what I've found with Taylor's work is a huge build up, only to get to a conclusion that fizzles pitifully. With this one...the whole story fizzled. It was like a carbonated beverage that's been sitting out (and opened) for too long. What a story. It kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. All you want is for Fran to find the answers she is looking for. The characters develop nicely through the book. Not all the characters are likeable. Fran grew on me, she is frosty, brittle and socially awkward. She is 12 years older than her duster and didn’t have a close relationship. Her relationship with her parents is awkward to say the least. So many things happen in the story and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many screwed up people trying to hang out! And as everything started to unfold I just couldn’t predict one thing. Brilliant! THE AUTHOR: Cally Taylor was born in Worcester and spent her early years living in various army camps in the UK and Germany. She studied Psychology at the University of Northumbria and went on forge a career in instructional design and e-Learning before leaving to write full time in 2014. She lives in Bristol with her partner and son. The sessions led by Tom are ridiculous, he plays at being a psychologist while being an untrained lay person who just got out of prison. Sean arrives at the hotel just in time and joins Georgia on the ledge, confessing his affection for her and admitting he'd seen her scrapbook. In the lobby, Ms. Gunther finds a fax for Georgia stating she was misdiagnosed due to a faulty CT scanner and does not have Lampington's disease. Ms. Gunther rushes up to the ledge to announce the good news.
