I was used to putting toothpaste onto my manual toothbrush before brushing, but doing this with the Oral-B it sprayed off when I pressed the button, so now I have to wipe toothpaste onto my teeth first. Is this the recommended method? The documentation is multilingual but very limited in scope! Reply This is certainly satisfactory and far from the worst. But, for a leading brand it’s not unreasonable to expect a bit better. Ergonomically, however, is where this toothbrush excels. The handle feels light and slim in the hand. It's still large enough so you can grip onto it easily without it feeling too chunky, which we can imagine - from a design perspective - is no easy feat.

Thanks for the comment. I cannot say after how long the battery will deteriorate to the point it will only hold charge for about 1 day. Unlike other Oral-B brushes, the pressure sensor is not visible on the handle. Nor is it audible. This means that if you apply too much pressure as you brush, you don’t know about it. Technically the sound and brushing sensation do change when the sensor is active, but you have to be paying attention to notice, it’s easy to miss or ignore. I don’t think whitening does all that much. Yes, it uses the power of the brush motor differently, but truth be told the cleaning results over all 3 modes are comparable if you master your brushing technique. Don’t think you are going to use whitening mode and any dull yellow teeth will shine like a diamond within a few days. At best it’s going to lift some external stains on the tooth surface, but any mode can do this. You can switch between them by pressing the firm, but responsive power button on the front of the handle multiple times. For example, 3 times if you want whitening mode. No icons to show the cleaning mode selected on the Pro 1 (brush in the centre) The Pro 1 has a handle design pretty much identical to the Pro 3 which has been available for at least a year prior. The Pro 2 2000 has the essential, dentist-recommended features you need from an electric toothbrush. Passionate about business and helping others, Jon has been involved in various online enterprises since the early 2000s. I can’t say that I have ever noticed this getting inside the handle. If you think the seal around here may be loose or there is a risk moisture is getting in, you may want to speak to Oral-B.

One advantage buying Oral-B is that you can use all tooth brush head models on every tooth brush. Also the added 3rd year warranty is a great bonus ! Last but not least the Li-Ion batteries in an entry level device are hard to beat but remember that Philips Sonicare already had them for years. The Pro 3 3500 on the other hand has a visible sensor, which notifies you when it is activated. This helps you to learn and adjust your technique accordingly. There isn’t an illuminating pressure sensor like on other Oral-B brushes We registered 72 decibels on our noise level meter. Our tests measured the Pro 1 at 72 decibels — slightly above average but not a deal breaker For more discussion on this and whether to opt for electric or manual, see our article is there such a thing as an eco-friendly electric toothbrush. Conclusion: good cleaning results but consider the alternatives I have noticed toothpaste/moisture can build up around the metal shaft that extends out from the brush handle. Drips down the brush head and pools here.

The best Oral-B electric toothbrushes to buy in 2023

But, you will find that the colour of the bristles on the provided CrossAction brush head will change. Known as CleanMaximiser bristles, over 3 months they will gradually fade from green to yellow. They are a visual clue that it might be time to switch the head you are using. If your toothbrush of choice is currently a manual brush you will really see and feel the difference should you switch. The pressure sensor doesn’t work as you would expect: you won’t know when you are brushing too hard

The Oral-B Pro 1 Series is a good electric toothbrush with most of the dentist-recommended features at a reasonable price.

Confused by Oral-B’s sprawling range of toothbrushes? Well we’ve picked out the best of the brand’s brushes for every need and budget

Our in-house dentists believe 3 features should be present in a good electric toothbrush. The Pro 2 2000 has them all. The timer and pacer help you to brush for the right amount of time The size of Oral-B’s round brush head is something many users come to really like. Smaller than most, it is able to reach tighter spaces in the mouth and gives a satisfying clean. It can feel more intense and almost aggressive compared to the softer brushing sensation you might get with the likes of a Philips Sonicare toothbrush. I like the slim and grippy handle. The 2 week battery life is satisfactory and, most importantly, it does a good job of cleaning your teeth. With regards to the Oral-B 1 series specifically; it has limited box contents which reduces its weight during transportation compared to others that come with more items. The box could be made a bit smaller, saving space and resources. After 2 minutes the alert changes slightly to tell you that you have brushed for long enough. Unlike some brushes, the Pro 2 doesn’t power off automatically. This may be a disappointment to some, but it’s not a big issue.
