About this deal

Have a run-through in the space you'll be speaking at if possible, especially if you'll be talking in front of a large audience. Test the tech system during that practice run to troubleshoot possible problems in advance. For instance, the sound may not run properly with your video or your slides may be set up behind you (which would mean you'll have to constantly turn your head to see where you are in your talk). The team reviewed hundreds of hours of TED Talks searching for differences in the most and least-watched talks. They analyzed hand gestures, vocal variety, smiling, and body movement. Inspire, motivate, and persuade any audience! That’s what Carmine Gallo helped me do and now he can help you, too, in Talk Like TED. Your success depends on your ability to pitch and present your vision, ideas, and proposals. Learn to deliver like a pro.

Motive edici bir final: “High Performing Organizations” sonuçları yeterince motive edici kanaatimce, oraya da balayarak zirvede bir son.An eighteen-minute window is more than adequate to share your core idea. This is true of almost any meeting or conference call. We live in a distracted world. Fight the urge to go deep and fill a five-pound bag with ten pounds of sugar. Perhaps more important at this moment, this method of presentation will help you to more deeply engage your listeners when you are talking virtually on Zoom or other platforms. Practical Tips I was wrong. Gallo skillfully analyzed especially successful TED talks, interviewed TED speakers about what they did and what they believed others did particularly well, and gave concrete advice and examples of his recommendations. I didn't buy all of his explanations for why things work – Gallo is a journalist and consultant rather than a researcher – but his recommendations are thoughtful and useful.

Your talk is not areadout, and it’s not a data dump. It’s the opportunity toconvey an idea into the minds of your audience, whether they be employees, investors, donors, or others. Gallo then recommends "striving for no more than 40 words in the first 10 slides. This will force you to think creatively about telling a memorable and engaging story instead of filling the slide with needless and distracting text. Kill bullet points on most of your slides" (p. 223). By starting with why, thepurpose of adopting your idea, you’ll be tapping into the power of meaning to inspire action. Telling stories connected withpurpose adds additional impact to your talk. 7. Talk with your hands The original TED, which stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design, is a conference that has been held annually since 1990.

What does Gallo recommend? Those of you who have watched hours of TED talks like me won't be surprised: speak from passion; use stories, humor, and pictures to engage your audience and to make your ideas clear; but be authentic. Quoting Bryan Stevenson: "You need data, facts, and analysis to challenge people, but you also need narrative to get people comfortable enough to care about the community that you are advocating for. Your audience needs to be willing to go with you on a journey” (p. 47). You probably know that I’m not talking about a guy named “Ted.” I’m referring to TED Talks, which are given at TED-sanctioned events around the world.

Talk Like TED Introduction

Speakers are unique, some specialized in the narration with the help of powerpoint presentation, some with the help of heart throbbing pictures, some with small video clips. But there are Orators who have a specific talent, they don't require any powerpoint slides or pictures, with the help of hand gestures and body language they will convey to the audience what they want to portray through this speech. Have a conversation with your audience. Presentation mode means you’regiving a performance. Aconversation means you are listening and responding to the needs of your audience in real-time. You are presentin the moment. 2. Focus on conveying a single idea Keep in mind that people don't have long attention spans. If you need to explore a topic deeply, use humor, an engaging video or other media to present various aspects of the topic. You can also break up a long talk by posing questions to the audience, suggests Hedges. Here’s a sample format I give my clients, which you can follow to give your own TED-style talk. With this structure, your eighteen minutes could be distributed like this: Accelerate ve diğer kitaplarda bahsettiğimiz konuları hayata geçiriebilmek için bunları birilerine anlatmamız gerekecek. İnsanları ikna ve motive etmek: süreçlerin bu şekilde uygulandığı takdirde başırıya ulaşılacağı konusunda…

The premise of this book, that TED talks provide great examples and lessons, is a magnificent insight. Then Carmine’s execution of this premise is even better. This book will make you a much better speaker.
