About this deal

The constant ‘making homosexuality a personality trait’ thing, putting all gay people into a box and stereotyping them. I really enjoyed this book, Tanz is such a great character and there are a lot of laugh out loud moments, as well as some spooky ones, in this book. I absolutely loved this second book from Tracy Whitwell and think the writing is better if possible!! Totally enjoyed and will be recommending far and wide! Newcastle’s dead refuse to stay quiet for long and pretty soon Tanz finds herself haunted by visions of an enigmatic Gin Palace guarded by a mysteriously sinister figure. What could possibly be the meaning of this? Could this be some kind of premonition that could help stop a terrible future tragedy? Tanz is determined to find out – even if it means having to do battle with a poltergeist determined to keep his secrets his own!

After an interesting twelve years messing about in front of the camera and traveling the world though, Tracy discovered she still loved writing and completed her first full length play 'KABOOM!!!'. A son, many stageplays, screenplays and a music video followed until 2012 when she realised she was finally ready to do the thing she'd longed to do since she was six. She wrote her first novel. A crime/horror/comedy tale about an alcohol-soaked, gobby, thrill-seeking actress who talks to ghosts. (Who knows where the inspiration came from, it's almost like she based it on her own ridiculous life.)

I found this book to be missing the heart of the previous book. With this book, the warmth and the heart of the book only seemed to creep in towards the end, but I'm thankful that it is there as it's what this series is all about in my opinion. This books ending was just great, and it kind of saved the book for me - i just wish there was more of that throughout the book and not just the end. This is Book 2 in the Accidental Medium series of mysteries featuring Tanz, a once-successful TV actress from Gateshead now living in London. In the first book Tanz discovered that she had the ability to communicate with the corporeally challenged. Now Tracy lives in north London, is working on screenplays and making her own short films and has written more novels, which will be coming out soon and she hopes you all will buy in bulk. (And enjoy, of course.)

So when Tanz is offered a paid acting gig in her hometown, things start to look up. But Newcastle’s dead won’t stay quiet for long, and soon Tanz becomes haunted with visions of a mysterious Gin Palace guarded by a sinister figure. As Tanz starts to piece together a terrible tragedy, it becomes clear there’s no limit to what the poltergeist will do to keep his secrets his own.

I'd recommend this to people who like the Riversy of London series, or who're looking for something like The Dresden Files with a female and more witchy twist. I really enjoyed this book and found the characters to be brilliant. Tanz is hysterical and I think everyone will find her entertaining and want to read more about her, I know I do! There are some emotional bits in the story and some creepy bits but most of all it's fun and you won’t want to put it down. I enjoyed this book as it took my down memory lane to my years in the North East and Newcastle. It was also in Tyneside that I went with a friend to see my first clairvoyant - an interesting experience.

I enjoyed the fact that Tanz was an actress trying to book jobs and lighting up the truth around the world of acting. It's tough out there! Another fun romp with Tanz, this time on home turf where she has returned to for a minor role in a TV series. Set 7 months after the events of the first novel, Tanz is still coming to grips with her newfound abilities. This has involved alot of merlot, Netflix and hanging out in bed, alone. I was excited to read Gin Palace by Tracy Whitwell, the second book in The Accidental Medium especially as it was set in Newcastle and Gateshead, in the lovely Northeast of England. Mandasue Heller on The Accidental Medium I loved The Accidental Medium. A hilarious journey into a ghostly world of psychics and the like that’s guaranteed to put you in high spirits. I’m no clairvoyant, but trust me, this medium is about to go large!

(Who knows where the inspiration came from . . .) Whilst I binged the first book, I found this one harder to get into and I didn't realise how much I had forgotten from the first book until it was mentioned in the second one but with little context to jog my memory as I read the first one months ago.
