Description

For Stephanie, life in an affluent neighborhood after a family tragedy turns into self-searching, and at the same time, an investigation into her husband and son's past actions and behavior. And what do the neighbors have to do with all this, since the two sons were friends at first, but then they suddenly drifted apart? Why?

Stephanie wakes up in a hospital without any recollection about what happened. She has a head injury and is confused.

Stephanie, her husband Pete, and their son Danny move from London to a small town. She was used to the anonymity of a large city, but here everyone wants you involved, and they gossip. She'd prefer to be left alone. Not too sure how I feel about this book? So many different stories and accounts, with no actual ending? A very different thriller and if I’m being honest I couldn’t get into the characters, I would’ve liked more depth into Pete and heard parts of his story from his own perspective and maybe Jonathan? I’m also disappointed with the ending, I thought there would be a big twist in how Pete and Danny died in the crash? And Richard or Janet had something to do with it? The best part of the story is the friendship between Stephanie's son Danny and Jonathan, son of the weird couple across the street. Good kids, struggling with so many things, some the normal parts of growing up and some that should never ever happen. Best friends who are torn apart by several events. Danny spends months being very moody and depressed and Stephanie wants to know why, even after he dies, especially after he dies. Part of the book is narrated by Danny and he's a good kid, getting a bad deal in more ways than one. Mysterious, creepy, sad and compelling a really eclectic mix of emotions all rolled into this excellent read. As Stephanie begins to unravel the mysteries, the neighbor's family also begins to behave more sinisterly and weirdly.

Kogoro ends up with the stomach problems and head towards the toilet. Meanwhile, Wakita delivers the sushi and overhears the case from outside and shows interest of the case. Yoko also shows them the group photo of the four who were present with her that day. She mentions the past the brothers shared about playing card games in the attic, hiding from their strict parents. And also that Nukiyasu called his brother Fuugo Ace, despite him not being a pitcher in the past while Fuggo called Heijima the real Ace. She shows a photo of Hejima's sister, wearing long sleeves dress and sunglasses, who also went missing two years ago.Characters ranging from slimy to emotive and featuring just the best snob ever who had me brilliantly horrified yet slightly in awe at her antics
